HR AUDIT refers to verifying the methods and procedures of HR department and thereafter preparing a report stating the measures to improve it. Every audit is done with a view to CHECK the current practices in an organisation. Organisations prefer doing HR Audit ,though it is not mandatory , in order to know the flaws in their HR department . HR department is very important  i every organisation so organisations prefer doing HR Audit.

 

The basic process of audit involves

gathering data of the particular field whose analysis is to be done

analyzing the data , finding out the flaws and ways to improve it

* making a report regarding it

HR Audit is also done in the same way. Data is gathered of Human Resource Department, keeping in mind of the objective of Audit . for example – minimizing the cost , growth aspects etc. Whole data is compiled together for further analyzing it and finding out the flaws in the department and the procedure to correct it. In the end a final report is prepared which is submitted to the Top Level Management with a view to implement whatever the changes are required . 

Ruth Mayhew  has explained the HR Audit process in a more detailed manner. According to her HR AUDIT can be done in 6  steps:-

1.Monitor employee record keeping processes for compliance with federal and state regulations concerning what constitutes an employee personnel file

  1. Review your organization’s recruitment and selection processes to ensure that they are non discriminatory and that they comply with equal employment opportunity policies.
  2. Examine workplace safety measures and risk management practices.
  3. Evaluate training and employee development opportunities to reveal any disparities in training methods or accessibility by employees
  4. Review employee relations processes to determine if your workplace investigations are conducted in a manner that assures employees their concerns will be handled by a human resources staff member specially trained to handle sensitive matters.
  5. Compile compensation and benefits information.

HR Audit is extremely beneficial for every organisation for finding out the ways to correct the backdrops in the HR Dept. of the organisation and taking a step further towards growth .
