Business Ethics

‘ Ethics  means norms , idols prevailing in a group of society.’  Ethics is concerned with the right and wrongs of the society. Similarly Business Ethics refers to the relationship between the organisation and the society . It refers to the social obligations which an organisation must perform while doing its daily basis activities.  Business Ethics are concerned with the right and wrongs of the organisation ie. whatever the work , organisation is doing it should be ethical ie it should not harm the society. For example charging fair  price from the customers, paying taxes regularly, fair treatment to the workers, providing quality goods etc.

It is very important for any organisation to follow business ethics as  it has a great impact on the image of the organisation in the eyes of the common people. Business survives within the society so in order to fit in that society it has to follow business ethics . Public image plays a major role in the profit earning of the organisation. It is  important that the organisation do not indulge in any kind of unfair activities or getting involved in some law suit. This will ruin the public image of the organisation leading to a decline in its product’s sale and thereafter will result in losses to the organisation.

Elements of Business Ethics

* Top level management: Top level plays a major role in guiding the Ethical behavior of the organisation. Top Level managers should be completely committed to their ethical conduct.

* Laying down guidelines: organisations often define principles and a whole set of guidelines which is to be followed by every organisation.

* Proper Accountability: It is very important that the members of the organisation are actually following the laid set of guidelines. Proper check should be there to know it.

If the organisation follows these ethics then it will surely be able to earn more from what is actually expected !
