What do these figures indicate

The current article will focus on some of the main indicators of development in Indian context. The main reason for writing such an article is because most of us have conflicting thoughts about the growth & development of our country. According to me its just about the perspective. Some people point out that construction of metro, flyovers will do no good to poor.. Firstly remove poverty. Another viewpoint to that is construction of infrastructure will generate employment opportunities for the poor. Its important to make them employed instead of giving them unemployment benefits.

Birth Rate: India’s population has always posed a big problem for the country’s government. But by having a look at the birth rate we can clearly see that it has been falling continuously. It’s a great sign as rising birth rate would have posed a big challenge for our country.

Access to Drinking water in rural areas: We all know that there exist remote areas in our country where still there is no access to electricity or drinking water. But a sharp increase has been seen in drinking water access. It definitely does not indicate that we have achieved something great but atleast we can conclude that we are on the right path.

Unemployment: Yes the growth rate has been increasing(not continuously), but youth unemployment rate has not seen a great fall. Its almost the same. So, can it be concluded from it that we are experiencing jobless growth?

Theft Rate: One of the major problems faced by our country today is crimes. Rape, robbery, theft, frauds, murders all has seen an increase.

Inflation: Yes it has seen an increase. But being an economic student I will say that a nominal rate of inflation is what everyone country will face and should face. Deflation might be a problem instead.

The major areas where we need to pay more attention is to provide jobs for the youth.. many educated children are being added to labour force daily. Something should be done about their future. And yes crimes.. the most important aspect that should be looked upon.
