Understanding Concept  A 'SMART City' Framework

Cities are Engines of Economic Development;

Smart Cities are upbringing of Sustainable Urbanization to meet future

The concept of ‘Smart Cities’  keep on dwelling in minds of everyone from laymen to government officials. But Clear picturesque are need to be undertaken for clear perspective and understanding the Smart City concept. Its not a Smarter Concept but a concept of sustainable way of planing urban development or Sustainable Urbanization to meet the futuristic development goals.

As a Global population of cities are growing at its steady pace therefore a smarter and new planing are required to be adopted to escape out from slow pace/stagnation in development process. The developing smart cities is solution to provide a sustainable growth and development to dampen rural to urban shifting population. It supports –

  • good infrastructure includes as water, sanitation, reliable utility services, health cares
  • Attract investments for better serviceability and employment generation
  • Meeting transparent processes that make it easy to run a commercial activities
  • simple and on line processes for obtaining approvals towards better citizen centric services to make citizens feel safe and happy

In India, the urban population constitutes 31% of the total population and contributes over 60% of India’s GDP. It is estimated that urban India will contribute nearly 75% of the national GDP in the next 15 years. Therefore cities are engines of economy. In accordance to government agenda’s including ‘Saabka Saath, Saabka Vikaas’ , ‘Clean India’, ‘Digital India’ , ‘Make in India’ , ‘Good Governance’ all can be summed up in Smart City concept for the people of India.

Key Features of SMART City includes – Competitiveness, Capital and Sustainability in finding new ways to manage complexity, increasing efficiency, reducing expenses and improve quality of life.

Pillars of SMART City Development includes – Physical Infrastructure, Social Infrastructure and Institutional Infra development (Governance).
