Rainstorm in HR

Rainstorm in HR

In this season of pouring rain and thundering clouds struck a thought, what if there’s more to the world than we see? I know it’s not exactly a revelation, more like a fact maybe. But think of it this way.

We’ve all studied the nitrogen cycle, carbon cycle and the notorious oxygen cycle as well but the least complicated and most alluring of them all was water cycle. Before you even consider questioning my sanity, think of the water cycle as a metaphor for the Human Resource industry. Let’s roll back to our biology lessons from 10th standard. Hitting flashback in 3..2..1..

We all stand in the pool of homogeneity, fresh out of college, looking for career breaks to explore our interests and skills. That’s exactly where we are, in an ocean filled with people who have the same sets of knacks and degrees as us, it’s just our personality and dedication that sets us apart. Or you might be amongst the “flora and fauna” of the industry, a.k.a. start-ups or smaller firms where your talent might not have gone unnoticed.

Assuming you’re one of the chosen few who have not only scored exceptionally well but also developed all the other essential aptitudes, you’re then ”evaporated” into the big bad business world. Where you’re condensed and the best out of you is extracted to form an amalgam best suited for the enterprise.

After the strenuous and time-consuming exercises, activities and workshops comes the time when the buds are ready to blossom. These little raindrops then face the lashes of the “wind” as in the obstacles like timed projects, deadlines and quality pressure. While some give in and become “acid rain”, harming the industry that built them, most come together to form the spectacular rainbow. Gleaming in the sunshine of hard work and appreciation, the cycle goes a long way on every step.
