The beginning of Human Resource Management was during the Industrial Revolution in Western Europe and USA and reached India in the starting of 20th century.

After industrialisation, the concept of Human Resource was conceived for the managing of the trade unions. Human Resource specialists believed that if human behaviour was on the right path, the organisation would itself be efficient. The basic concept was to protect the worker‘s interest against the issues of child labour, poor working conditions etc.. Strikes, lockouts were the main aspects of the trade unions which gave rise to the solutions of the problems in the form of employee benefits leave management and work environment programmes.

Human Resource is the most important asset of the company. An organisation cannot work without the human resource. The role of HR does not ends with the selection and placement but also comprises of other responsibilities. HR professionals should ensure that the employee‘s tenure should be longer and beneficial. HR managers should make sure that every employee makes his maximum contribution in achieving the goals of the organisation.

Since its evolution, HR has moved far beyond the excessive paper – work process. HR managers now focus on the aspects of working of the employees and the produced outcome. Now, the efforts are being made to improve the facilities of employees. HR professionals need to focus on the goals of the organisation taking hand in hand the fulfilment of individual goals. An employee should be made a “Leader for tomorrow“ by enhancing his talent and abilities .

HR managers need to find out the decision making abilities of the employees. This can be done through assessing all possible ways to do a work diligently. Long –term outcomes are beneficial to administer the system that can be more productive. The latent talent of the employees helps in enhancing the decision – making ability. A successful manager is the one who not only gets the work done out of the high calibre employees but also from the low performance employees.

HR managers should play an effective role not only in their area of working but also in the fields of other departments. HR helps in improving the operational outcomes.

As the business trend is changing day by day, the need to change the mind of the employees to do a particular work should be broadened. HR professionals should conduct seminars timely to know the new technologies that can be beneficial in the long run attainment of the business goals.
