8000 students from Jharkhand qualified for IIT-JEE (Main)

Nearly 8,000 of 45,000 students from Jharkhand cracked the IIT-JEE (Main) exam organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). These 8,000 students qualified for the advance test to be held on June 2, 2013.

The marks scored of the IIT-JEE (Main) will decide admission to centrally-funded institutions like IIT, National Institute of Technology and Indian Institutes of Information Technology. The pattern of the exam is expected to change, from this year Class XII board marks will carry 40% weightage and JEE marks will carry 60% weightage for admissions to IITs.

The top 1.5 lakh students will be eligible for the JEE (advanced) test, marks in which will determine admission to IITs.
