Following up from the previous post (Top Trends in Computer Science-Part 1) let’s see whats trending right now!

1.Next generation mobile technology:

Pervasive mobile computing is everywhere. Its not enough if we just use our mobile phones for calling or communicating with someone via text.We now use our mobile for listening to music, online transaction, watching videos, booking tickets and the list is never ending.Mobile technology is evoloving to the needs of the user and has to significantly rise to the demands of the user.

2.Balancing identity and risk:

Whats the first you do in the morning?Read the paper?Go for a walk? No! You check updates on your social networking profile. The ever growing need to be connected even if virtually is creating a crisi where privacy is losing its meaning.Although the Internet provides an unlimited supply of resoures and tools sometimes it may not neccesarily be safe.Technology is rising to this need where a user can connect to his peers without the risk of being misled or bullied.

3.Smart and connected Healthcare:

Individual health will get a boost with the onset of technology in the form of devices, gadgets and apps that continously monitor your stats and health against a fixed measure. These are connected to servers that help in prompt response in case of any emergencies. In addition to work that focuses on individuals, there is a increase in use of intelligent systems for large-scale analysis of biomedical data, metadata and socially relevant data such as the spread of disease or certain health-habits in populations.

4.Scientific Cloud Computing:

Scientific computing is already changing the way science is done and has helped established facts and enabled for scientific breakthroughs. This in combination with a large amount of resources provided from the cloud is only furthuring the cause! It is providing new answers by various domains:high-performance computing (HPC), high-throughput computing (HTC), many-task computing (MTC), and data-intensive computing.

5.E-Government:

This refers to providing governement services, aiding in government transactions and carrying out various businesses through the net.Interoperability is essential to broad success in e-government. Challenges in this area include interoperability in cloud computing, an open government, and investement and builiding of smart cities.

These are the emerging areas in technology as of right now.How these technologies impact or change us only time will tell.
