Capitalism and why the economic divide is ever widening

Rich is getting richer and poor is getting poorer

Finance is not only related to debit and credit, the balance sheets, sensex and nifty. But it is something that has a more deeper meaning and more grave problems attached to it.Here is an attempt to bring out one such problem related to finance and understand it,an attempt to discuss the sensitive side of finance.

Within India exists 2 more Indias. The first in which you will hear,”dad,i want those nike shoes;oh,i just invested in another property;lets have dinner in taj today” ;and the second in which you will hear,”i dont have even a single pair of shoes;getting even a one time meal is enough for our family;”What a paradox!Today, the rich is getting richer and the poor is getting poorer. The underlying fact behind this is inequality in distribution of income. This is one of the most grave problem that India is facing currently .Although there is no denying the fact that rich people set up factories, business etc and give employment to poor people enabling them to earn their livelihood but the major beneficiaries in this setup are the rich people only. The winner gets it all is the present scenario in our nation. So,if you are living in such a nation, its nearly impossible for poor to even dream of becoming rich someday. The distinction between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ is leading to problems such as increase in criminal activities by poor when they are unable to meet their basic needs;injustice with that section of society that constitutes the majority;and what not?An action has to be taken now to reduce and even eliminate this disparity or it will one day cover each and every one of us in its dark shadow.Steps such as progressive taxation, unemployment benefits, housing benefits etc can be undertaken by the govt.A beginning has to be made the sooner the better.Believe me,it would be very pleasant to hear,”I will become rich someday”,from those mouths that barely had one time meal in them. The poor just want that opportunity to rise.Only if they are unshackled from all bondages, exposed to the world’s wondrous beauty, provided quality meaningful education and bestowed with equal opportunity, can the gap be bridged. Moreover,do you know that the net worth of India’s biilionaires would be enough to eliminate absolute poverty in the country twice over!If not now then when ,if not here then where and if not we then who??THINK…
