In present scenario, the development of foreign policy in terms of cooperation, agreements on connectivity,towards globalization defines a route to strengthening political and cultural ties between the nations. In order to foster economic and political gain the ‘Connectivity’ is a buzzing word in foreign policy.

India’s National CONNECTIVITY Policy Framework

Defining the ‘connectivity’ is not only physical but in broader sense of development impulses with inclusion of connectivity in security and development, regional cooperation, foreign investment, environmental sustainability principles, socio-economic free trade agreements will lead to inclusion of high growth rate.

The Existing modes of connectivity lies in infrastructural projects, bilateral, sub-regional and regional initiatives and cultural ties-up. With defining Physical connectivity comprising land (through road and rail networks), water (through sea, port and inland water ways) coordination in border management to facilitate movement of people across the border states (through tourism, local trade, operationalising border haats, etc.) and also the institutional and administrative mechanisms necessary for coordination among various agencies and stakeholders

India-Bangladesh  Partnership have various dimensions – civilisational, cultural/religious, social and economic will share common cultural heritage, history and commonality in memories of two nations upbringing.

Currently with an unanimous passage of the 119th Constitutional Amendment Bill by Parliament paving the way for the ratification of the long pending India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement between the nations will strengthening bilateral ties. It will certainly sent powerful message of political consensus.

There are still concern on water sharing issues by Bangladesh, as given that it is the lower riparian state. Other issues that India concern on migrations, terrorism and security will certainly need to be come up with concrete solutions in future ties.

The progress of cooperation will be paved to sour new heights in upcoming years of building better trusteeship and partnership in SAARC Region.
