NEPAL, is one of richest countries in the world in term of its Biodiversity due its unique geographical position and latitude variations.An occupying 0.1% of landmass but its habitat 2% of flowering plants , 8% of world’s birds population, 4% of mammals on earth, 319 species of exotic orchids in between Himalayan ranges. But such position in midst of India and southern Tibet of Himalayan ranges are prone to major earthquakes too.
On April 25th, Magnitude of 7.8 occurred as the main frontal thrust between the subducting India plate and the overriding Eurasia plate to the north. The Epicenter location of this earthquake, approximately 80 km to the northwest of the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu. As the Indian plate is converging with Eurasian plate at a rate of 45 mm/yr towards the north-northeast, driving the uplifting of the Himalayan mountain ranges.
As in Historic records of Nepal, in every 40 years two earthquakes of magnitude 7.5-8 and one earthquake of magnitude of 8+ every 80 years trembles the Nepal. 45 Million years ago, the Indian subcontinent collided the Tibetan plateau.This movement creates pressures within the earth, builds up and slip to released with earthquake.
Major Causalities are compounding with aftershocks, rain among the nationals. Mega Rescue and Relief operations are under progress. Its being a Alarming Bell to Focus primarily on Sustainable Habitations to be build upon the nature.
