Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) changed their fortune drastically. Their journey from being a zero to a hero is quite remarkable… Hence this question arises that what were the factors which led to this dramatic turnaround???
After the first three seasons of IPL, KKR decided that they will completely revamp the team and hence did not retain any player before going to the auction not even their iconic player Prince of Kolkata, Saurav Chandidas Ganguly. Nobody really knew what were their plans for the auction and how will they approach it.
Hence it created an aura of suspense to the run up of IPL Auction 2010. At last the D-Day arrives and the first player to be auctioned was none other than Delhi Southpaw Gautam Gambhir. There was a series of bidding between RCB and KTK till $1.5 million and everybody though it won’t go any further, then came KKR from nowhere and started more intense bidding and at the end they got him for whopping $2.4 million dollars making him the most expensive player in IPL AUCTIONS history till it was shattered by Yuvraj Singh’s record fee in 2014. Similarly they bought Yusuf Pathan for $2.1million, Kallis For $ 1.1 million and bought renowned players like Shakib Al Hasan and Ryan ten Doeschate.
The team lacked big names in paper but still it did not hinder their progress as from year to year they became stronger and better and at the end of IPL 7 they have in their names 2 IPL crowns and are considered to be one of the most successful IPL teams in history along with CSK…
Hence The success story of KKR not only gives inspiration but also gives us the belief that no matter what happens it is you who has the power & the will to change your fortune for good.

Quite informative. I would also like to add that the team took an early initiative to recover itself and their planning and execution did contribute to their success.
