Is commercialization necessary?

Is commercialization necessary

Commercialization opens the door for many private owners to enter into a particular sector. Though commercialization is adopted with the basic purpose of profit making but brings with itself modernization, industrialization, better technological facilities and improvement in the sector.

But then why commercialization in healthcare sector has been an issue?

It’s a fact that infrastructure in government hospitals is dreadful and so people suffer because of lack of facilities like basic sanitation, drinking water, accommodation of increasing number of patients and moreover, indiscipline, corruption seems to be common practice there. The public sector is also poor in terms of the treatment facilities available and the availability of doctors. There is no doubt that government is putting its best efforts to tackle such issues. But the introduction of commercialization in health care sector could be a boon.

Commercialization in health care sector has ensured better sanitation facilities, proper treatment and 24 hour availability of qualified doctors by improving quality of service. But the problem with the commercialization is that privately owned hospitals charge huge prices for the medicines and even the treatment facilities which are available at free in the public hospitals, are charged high in these private hospitals. So only rich people or middle class people can benefit from such facilities and poor people are deprived of them. They can exploit people and may even create monopoly in the market.

We can conclude that commercialization is necessary but with some regulation.
