Employee engagement activities : Part II

Employee engagement activities

On public demand comes the continuation of employee engagement activities. This time, I have a list of activities that every manager must undertake to have a happier and healthier working environment.

Some basic, much important and worldwide accepted activities are :

  • Indulge employees into decision making process, make them feel important, that will ensure better ideas.
  • Create an environment of healthy competition, it yields better results.
  • Set realistic goals and adequate awards and recognition to encourage individuals to stay a few steps ahead of others.
  • Distribute extensive work into teams and race them to get work done in a better and quicker way while promoting team work.
  • Include unorthodox, unconventional methods into work like a work-over night ( based on the concept of sleepovers) etc. that’ll increase productivity while having fun and exercising flexibility.

These methods obviously require a lot of courage and self righteousness to even propose. The whole working staff must cooperate and it must be beneficial to each one. Some firms have gone over the top to exercise employee engagement activities. Some examples include that of :

  1. FullContact- a contact management API firm, gave paid vacations a new twist. It offers a whooping amount of $7500 to employees for vacation. The catch? You actually have to take the vacation to get the money in hand. You cannot participate in job in any possible way, including no phone calls or even texts. Sounds fun, right?
  2. Reebok CrossFit Box- In order to get consumers to like and appreciate their brand and products, the company thought of something out of the box. The consumers will think of Reebok as a sports brand only if the employees projected the same image. To attain this, Reebok converted one of its warehouse into an exercise center sort, open exclusively for Reebok employees. If that doesn’t get you up and running, then what does?
