7. ANDROID HONEYCOMB (Android 3.0)

  Android Honeycomb was introduced on May 10, 2011 .It was first modified and launched for supporting large screen phones particularly tablets delivering a new interface optimized for these devices. It Introduces all new virtual and holographic UI with a vibrant 3D experience and deeper interactivity making them more user-friendly than earlier Version. They introduced “System Bar” for global status and notification which make Honeycomb to stand in front of the previous versions .  Action bar for application control was also introduced ( The curtains type of thing that we use to pull down sometimes for no reason or sometimes for switching on wi-fi, data and all..).

5 customizable Home Screen was introduced in this version .Recent App Button was introduced in the system bar as no user stick to one application ,they keep on jumping from one application to another , so this button was added which showed the list of open apps or recent app so that user can easy jump from one to other in no time . The keyboard was also redefined to suit large screen phones to provide richer and effective typing . This new UI let the user from Press and holding a text and quick selecting the portions for copying and pasting . The Android 3.x features new Connective protocol the one is Media/picture transfer protocol for faster transfer of information which replaced the USB media storage option in earlier versions.

Widgets as we know it was introduced earlier for faster access of apps,in honeycomb the developers took the widgets to the next level, they introduced new form of widgets in form of 3D grids,stacks etc you guys have noticed the widgets of you tube,videos and galary now . From this Generation onwards we were able to see multiple core processors like the generation behind have mostly single core processor but up today you can find dual,quad and Octa Core processors. so the Concept of parallel processing started from this generations..
