And the award goes to “Data Analysts”

The most rewarded job and one of the high class jobs in which hardly any employee is seen. In today’s world, “Data Analysis” has become a huge requirement for every firm. Whether it’s related to field of law, medical or any other field known to human kind, data analysts are in huge demand. And I mean it. Being a “Data Analyst” is completely different than being an “Engineer”.

Now why am I comparing “Data Analysts” with “Engineers”? Because, till 2013, engineering was on 7th sky and in 2014 it’s still on 7th sky but the only difference is that “Data Analysts” have smoked “Engineers”.

Just imagine yourself as an “Engineer”. Choose your pick: “Computer Science”, “Mechanics”, “Automobile”, etc. You work in a limited area of knowledge and within a confined area of job opportunities. Now shift to being a “Data Analyst”. You analyse data. Any data. All you need is a creative mind with no limit to expand your knowledge in any field. Being an “Analyst” means you can learn about any field. Being a “Bio-Statistician” gives you the privilege of being an analyst as well as gives you the benefits of working with a health related organisation.

Now that we have gone through the theory part, let’s catch up on some practical part. Let me prove this with the help of statistics. Type “Data Analyst” on google search. Common do it. I am not joking! I am waiting!

What do you get? 5,00,00,000+ results within 0.35 seconds! Now type “Engineer”. 2,50,00,000+ results within 0.41 seconds! (Search results may vary by small amounts.)

More results for “Data Analysts” that too in lesser time! Isn’t this much information enough? Let’s go for more! “Data Analyst” was awarded with the “Sexiest Job of the 21st century”. I have no idea about being an “Engineer”. About 2,00,000+ analysts will be needed worldwide by the end of 2015. Being a “Data Analyst” you can get jobs in government sector, private sector or you can open your own business. And guess what? Companies hire analysts on a contract basis. Which means you do not need to get bored sitting in just one office till your retirement.

N.A.S.S.C.O.M. (National Association of Software and Services Companies) projected that India will require at least 2,00,000 analytics professionals for domestic and international operations by 2022. Since 2013, salaries of “Data Analysts” have seen a whopping hike of 27% since 2013! Now we are talking!

Data Analysts earn thrice the amount they start off with in a span of 3-4 years. And there is a 250% jump in salary when one promotes from an entry-level data analyst to the role of a manager. Yeah, I am serious! Numbers don’t lie!

So, next time you plan your future, keep in mind! “Engineering” or “Data Analyst”? “Data Analyst” or “Engineering”?
