Whether you’re a novice coder or an experienced developer looking to streamline your workflow, Bootstrap offers a comprehensive set of tools and resources to help you create stunning, responsive web designs with ease. In this beginner’s guide, we’ll take you through the fundamentals of Bootstrap, from understanding its key features to implementing it in your projects. Let’s embark on this journey together and unlock the potential of Bootstrap for your web development endeavors.

Bootstrap, a boon for beginners in web development, streamlines the process with simplicity and ready-made components. Its mantra, ‘Streamline, design, prosper,’ captures its essence, fostering a supportive learning environment and efficient development for newcomers.

What is Bootstrap?

Bootstrap is a free and open-source front-end framework for web development, designed to streamline the process of building responsive and visually appealing websites. It was initially created by Twitter developers Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton, and it was first released in 2011 as Twitter Bootstrap. Later, it became simply Bootstrap and evolved into one of the most popular frameworks in the web development community.

Purpose:

Responsive Design: Bootstrap employs a responsive grid system, ensuring websites adapt seamlessly to various devices and screen sizes, maintaining a consistent user experience.

Consistent Styling: With pre-designed components like buttons and forms, Bootstrap facilitates uniform styling throughout the site, reducing the need for extensive custom design.

Features:

CSS Framework: Bootstrap provides an extensive set of CSS styles, simplifying the application of consistent styles across different web page elements.

For large and extra-large devices:

col-lg: Screen width equal to or greater than 992px.

col-xl: Screen width equal to or greater than 1200px.

In this context, the designations “sm,” “md,” “lg,” and “xl” correspond to the device sizes, signifying small, medium, large, and extra-large, respectively.

Basic Structure

column-1

          Column-2

This will create 2 center-aligned columns of equal widths. The class container wraps all the rows, columns, and content of the grid. The class row is used to create a row and the class col-lg denotes the device width is large.

Bold text.

Text Transformation:

Bootstrap provides classes for transforming text, including .text-uppercase, .text-lowercase, and .text-capitalize.

uppercase text

Text Colors:

Easily change text colors using contextual classes like .text-primary, .text-success, and others.

This text is red.

Responsive Font Sizes:

        Name:
<input type=”text” class=”form-control” id=”exampleInput” placeholder=”John Doe”>

<button type=”submit” class=”btn btn-success”>Submit
ubmit

Navigation Bars

Navigation bars provide a user-friendly way to navigate through different sections of a website. Bootstrap simplifies the creation of responsive and styled navigation bars.

Example:

Implementation of a basic Bootstrap navigation bar:

<nav class=”navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-light bg-light”>

Logo
<button class=”navbar-toggler” type=”button” data-bs-toggle=”collapse” data-bs-target=”#navbarNav” aria-controls=”navbarNav” aria-expanded=”false” aria-label=”Toggle navigation”>

        <div class=”collapse navbar-collapse” id=”navbarNav”>

                    Home

                    About

                    Contact

ntact

For a more detailed approach, customize Bootstrap using Sass to modify variables and influence various framework aspects.

Install Sass:

If not already installed, use npm to install the official Bootstrap Sass package.

Customize Bootstrap variables before the import statement to override default values.

Compile Sass:

Compile the Sass file to generate a custom CSS file.

2. Applying Custom Styles:

A. Incorporate Custom CSS:

If you prefer a non-Sass approach, create a separate CSS file and include it after the Bootstrap CSS.

B. Customizing Components:

To tailor specific Bootstrap components, override their styles in your custom CSS file. Refer to the Bootstrap documentation for detailed insights into customizing individual components.

It was the year 2014 when the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendrabhai Damodardas Modi gave the slogan of Make in India from Red Fort in his 1st Independence Day speech. Since then many initiatives have been taken for easing out doing business in the country and many important legislations and reforms are being brought about continuously by our government and there are significant positive signs towards the revival of the Indian economy although the world economy is not in a very good state and is experiencing slowdown due to many geopolitical reasons. The Indian economy meanwhile is growing at an impressive 7-7.5 percent and is ahead of their neighbors and global manufacturing hub China and is rising ahead in a steady manner.

There has been special focus on skill development by the government and a new ministry itself has been created for it to help promote vocational training to underprivileged people and other people who have not had adequate opportunities for higher education but who are skilled in some unique way and can prove to be of great importance to some industry or company and can help in becoming assets to the nation by contributing their bit for the country.

In our country of 125 crore people it is a national shame that even the idols of Gods that we worship at our homes daily most of them are not made in India but made in China. One can very well look it up behind the idol.

Textiles, automobile, agricultural, defence, technology and many other sectors are being focused on for indigenization and making our country a global manufacturing hub for the whole world which will reduce our imports and increase our exports and therefore help in boosting our GDP and helping people get more jobs and help build a prosperous nation with alleviation of the poor and unprivileged.

One sector which has not got its due share of limelight and is in the danger of losing this golden opportunity of getting world recognition for India is our Fashion and Design industry. Our country has world famous fashion designers in Tarun Tahilani, Sabyasachi, Ritu Beri, Manish Malhotra and many others. The National Institute of Fashion Designing and many other renowned fashion institutes are every year producing thousands of highly talented fashion designers who are highly skilled and have great calibre in this field.

But the sad part of the story is our fashion designers are seen only using costly fabrics in all their dresses and a negative notion that is generated about them is that they are only for the rich and privileged class in our country and their designs and dresses are only worn by rich people and not even touched by common people of this country. It is high time that our fashion industry must stand up for themselves and the nation and involve with the common people more and connect at the very grassroot level and change this notion about them.

This idea if taken seriously and implemented properly can cause revolutionary change in our country as these fashion designers should connect with our people living in our villages and small towns. They should not anymore limit themselves to costly fabric anymore and instead use their designing abilities to make dresses for the common people that are fashionable as well as affordable by using natural fabric and materials that are available to people from all economic backgrounds.

But in doing all this they should select their designs carefully and in no way end up creating undue controversy as India with its vast cultural diversity still has many communities and sects in small towns and villages with not as open mindsets as people living in cities have due to the lack exposure to the modern world and being uneducated. So these designers should create designer affordable clothing while keeping in mind our societal and cultural traditions and respecting them.

It is known that we do still export clothes to other countries but it is at a very small scale and is not worthy of its potential but with this idea I think it will help in creating worldwide demand of our affordable and innovative clothing.

It is my dream that one day in all countries there are clothes sold with MADE IN INDIA printed on their tags. I am sure that every Indian shares this dream with me and this dream will be fulfilled one day and the world shall wear our clothes and designs.

Bathroom design is always one of the great concerns for consumers, especially, for “Handicappeds”. Disable people use to have different needs in case of bathroom fixtures. So fixtures with relevant and useful features should be applied.

The bathroom’s design to be used, independently by mobility impaired people (those who use wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or canes), bathrooms need not be large and must be designed carefully. Attention, to what type of bathing fixture is preferred by the user: a transfer shower, a tub or a roll-in shower.

A careful planning must be done to provide critical clear floor space at each fixture so someone with a mobility aid can approach ever close and can use all fixtures. Knee space at lavatories (sinks), faucets and controls, as well as grab bar size and position must be considered.

Three types of bathing fixtures are commonly used by people with mobility impairments:

1) A built-in transfer surface or a removable seat, standard bathtub.

2) A special 3′ wide by 3′ deep transfer shower stall.

3) Transfer shower stall with a corner seat.

4) A roll-in shower stall (with no curb) that is large enough to permit people to shower in a wheelchair.

Each of these three bathing fixtures has advantages and disadvantages that make them more suitable for some people and less suitable for others. Since no one fixture meets everyone’s needs, the sections of the fixtures, explain their key features and how they are used.

Now mix the thin-set as per the instructions on the pack. Then use a trowel to spread an even layer of thin-set over the sub-floor.

Place the backer-board and screw it down. This makes the surface smooth and which protect granite from damages.

Hold the trowel at 45 degree angle to form consistent ridges.

Use a slight twisting motion to press the granite tile into the mortar, by tapping it down with a rubber mallet. This ensures force out air pockets for complete contact.

Allow the mortar to dry for 24 hours.

In small batches mix grout and use it within 20 minutes. The consistency of grout should be like toothpaste.

Then work the grout into the tile joints with a grout float.

Clean off any excess grout paste with the help float and using damp sponge.

Timber is one of the most useful and important material for constructions. Selecting timber is not an easy task, because timber has different types out of which selecting the right material is an important key. Timber is an expensive material to be incorporated in a building for different purpose therefore it should necessarily be strong, tough and durable. Timber doors or windows and etc. contribute a lot in the beautification and overall look of interiors. Timber is used in doors, windows, cabinet, cupboards, shelves, tables and railings etc. Timber is also popularly used in the form of plywood & raw wood. Products like ply blocks and ply boards. Heavy patterned doors and windows are made of solid wood/Timber to provide the strength, toughness and durability.

Type of timber to be used for right purpose is important because if timber used in construction is of low quality then this may need replacement. While selecting timber one should consider its quality aspect as timber must be free from decay like rotten, fungi and termite. Following are some essential tips and guidelines to know about timber selection for buildings:

Teakwood is a most appropriate timber to be used in the construction of buildings. Teakwood is naturally durable with good merit and adaptability although it is prone to attacks of white ants and insects. Yet builders choose teakwood for its natural look, durability with long lasting characteristics.

Sal is another timber material identified as much stronger and quite harder than teakwood used in building purposes. Sal is less prone to termite or fungi attack and can be used for several constructive purposes.

Deodar is one of a strongest Indian conifer with less strength and weight than teakwood. Deodar has maintained its good image for durability and style of appearance. Deodar can be easily cast in any shape, easy to saw. Generally used for building & construction in homes and other civil structures.

Hardwood is another form of wood which is treated thoroughly before use as it is not durable as much as teakwood or deodar. After treated through, wood preservative and polishing on hardwood makes it suitable for house building structure.

Ply board is used in buildings for various purposes. They are formed by pressing together several layers of wood.

Particle board is made of agro waste, cellulose etc and blended with adhesive to make into a solid board.
