Your trust matters to us, so we hold ourselves to high standards for secure transactions and for the privacy of your information. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers www.vskills.in, including the certification store and the Vskills practice platform, and any Vskills app (together, the "Website").
This Privacy Policy forms part of, and is subject to, our Terms of Use. By using the Website or giving us your information, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address and mobile number. When you buy a certification, we also collect your billing details. When you write to us, post feedback or report a problem with a question, we keep what you send so we can respond and fix the issue.
Information from sign-in providers. If you choose to sign in with LinkedIn, Google or another provider we support, see Section 2.
Payment information. Payments are handled by our payment gateway partners. Card, UPI and net-banking details are entered on, and processed by, those partners under their own security standards. [CONFIRM: "We do not store your full card number."]
Learning and practice activity. When you use the practice platform, we record your attempts, answers, scores, the time you spend on tests, the coins and badges you earn, and any coupons you redeem. This lets us show your progress and results, run the weekly leaderboard and give out rewards.
Information collected automatically. We automatically record certain technical information, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and the page you arrived from or go to next. We use it to run, secure and improve the Website, and we analyse it in aggregate to understand how our users use it.
You can browse much of the Website without telling us who you are. Some features, such as taking a test, earning coins or placing an order, need an account. We mark which fields are required. You can always choose not to give information by not using a feature.
2. Signing in with LinkedIn, Google or another provider
You can create a Vskills account or sign in using an existing account with a third-party provider such as LinkedIn or Google ("Social Sign-In"). Using Social Sign-In is optional. You can always register with an email address and password instead.
What we receive. When you choose Social Sign-In, you are taken to the provider's own page to sign in and approve the request. With your permission, the provider sends us only basic profile information:
- your name;
- your email address, and whether the provider has verified it;
- a unique identifier the provider uses for your account, which lets us recognise you the next time you sign in.
The provider may also share your profile photo and language preference as part of your basic profile. We do not use them for any other purpose.
What we do not receive or do. We never see or store your LinkedIn, Google or other provider password. We do not ask for or receive your contacts, connections, messages, posts or work history. We never post, message or act on your behalf on any provider. We do not keep the provider's access tokens after sign-in is complete.
How we use it. We use this information only to create and sign in to your Vskills account, to fill in your profile so you do not have to type it again, and to contact you about your account, tests and orders. The first time you sign in this way, we show you the details we received so you can review them. We also ask for your mobile number at that point if we do not already have it.
Existing accounts. If you already have a Vskills account with the same email address, we link the provider to it only after you confirm by entering your existing Vskills password. A provider cannot take over an existing account on its own say-so.
Sharing. We do not sell information received through Social Sign-In, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it to train artificial-intelligence models.
Google user data. Vskills' use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting. You can remove Vskills' access at any time from your provider's settings:
- LinkedIn: Settings → Data privacy → Permitted services;
- Google: myaccount.google.com/connections.
Removing access stops future sign-ins through that provider. It does not delete your Vskills account. To delete your account, see Section 9.
Your use of LinkedIn, Google and other providers is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account, and sign you in securely;
- deliver the services you request, including tests, practice sessions, results, certifications and orders;
- process payments, issue coupons and handle refunds;
- send you messages about your account, orders, results and important changes;
- send you offers based on your interests and past orders. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time;
- resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and provide customer support;
- detect and prevent fraud, abuse, cheating and other illegal activity, and enforce our Terms of Use;
- measure interest in our services and improve the Website.
From time to time we may ask you to fill in optional surveys. These may ask for contact and demographic information. We use the answers to improve and personalise your experience.
4. What other users can see
The weekly leaderboard shows your first name and the initial of your last name (for example, "Ananya S"). It never shows your email address, mobile number or full name. You can hide yourself from the leaderboard from your profile settings.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser later. We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the Website secure, and understand how pages are used and how effective our promotions are. Some features only work with cookies.
Most of our cookies are session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser. Others stay until they expire or you delete them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features may then stop working, and you may need to sign in more often.
Some pages may carry cookies or similar technologies placed by third parties, such as advertising partners. We do not control how those third parties use cookies.
6. Sharing of personal information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below:
- Service providers who work on our behalf, such as hosting, email and SMS delivery, and payment processing. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Our affiliates, to help detect and prevent identity theft, fraud and other illegal acts, to link related accounts to prevent abuse, and to provide joint or co-branded services you request. They may not market to you as a result unless you opt in.
- Legal requirements. We share information when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that sharing is reasonably necessary to respond to a subpoena, court order or other legal process; to enforce our Terms of Use or this policy; to respond to claims that content violates the rights of others; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers. If we merge with, are acquired by, or reorganise into another business, your information may be transferred to that business. It will remain subject to this policy.
7. Links to other sites
The Website links to other websites that may collect personal information about you. Vskills is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as we need it to provide our services. After that, we keep it only as long as we need to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Records of certifications we have issued are kept so that employers and others can verify them.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- see and update your profile details from your account page;
- ask for a summary of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or complete inaccurate information;
- withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete your account and personal information. We will do so unless we are required by law to keep certain records;
- opt out of marketing messages using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us;
- nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated.
To make any of these requests, write to us at the address in Section 13. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and alteration. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections, hashed passwords and restricted access to personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Advertisements
We may use third-party advertising companies to show ads when you visit the Website. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites, but not your name, address, email address or telephone number, to show you ads for goods and services that may interest you. Information received through Social Sign-In is never used for advertising.
12. Refusal of application
Vskills reserves the right to refuse any application for certification registration without giving a reason.
13. Contact us and Grievance Officer
If you have a question or complaint about this policy or how we handle your information, or you want to exercise your rights, please contact our Grievance Officer:
