Off-the-job Training

Off-the-Job Training is the method in which the employees learn their job roles away from the real workplace. It includes place allotted for the training where the employees are required to learn the skills and techniques of the tools that are used in the actual workplace.

Different methods that are used in off-the-job training are:

Case Studies: Trainees are given the situation in the form of a case study, and then they have to solve it according to their learning.

Role-playing: Under this, the trainees assume roles and act according to the given situations. It is also known as socio-drama where the employees act as they are facing the situation and need to solve it on the spot without any help.

Management Games: The trainees are divided into groups and they are provided with the situations, where they need to solve the problems accordingly, through their learning.

Special lectures: This is a classroom training where the complete work knowledge is given to the workers by the experts. The primary objective of this training is to make the employees well informed about their job roles and discussing their problems with them.

Simulation: The trainee needs to learn the operations of tools that are designed to look similar to those that are present in the real workplace. This is the most common method of training where the employee learns to operate tools correctly.

Under off-the-job training, the employees focus only on the learning of their work and it is not conducted for the production-related purposes.
