Learning Curve

The learning curve is a graphical depiction of the learning and time. Different criteria can be used for the measurement of learning. In the visual depiction of a learning curve, a steeper slope depicts the starting point of learning that converts into high cost savings, and constant learning outcomes in increasing order, and more cost savings. Some of the criteria that are used are- errors in each trials, time used per trial, etc. The curves for the persons fluctuate widely due to the different capabilities of the individuals to learn the skills. Some generalizations can be prepared for the same.

In training, learning curve has the following purpose:

  • They offer a technique to establish the training goals and to evaluate the performances of the employees towards these goals.
  • With the help of a learning curve, more effective creation of scheduling is achievable when estimated enhancement in the trainees’ performance is unsurprising.
  • It also helps in hiring and terminating the employees above the bond period that can be controlled more effectively.
  • Learning curves can be served as a substitute to hiring and dismissal because the trainers cannot hurry up to make predetermined thoughts about the trainees.
