What does a Fitness Instructor do?

As a Fitness Instructor, you are the go-to person for exercising. You know how to plan workouts that keep the participants motivated and coming back for more. Focusing on strength training, flexibility, endurance is part of your expertise. You lead a fun class that exercises every muscle group in the body while also burning fat. Also, you design classes in a way that effectiveness rivals that found in commercial gyms. You have many tools at your disposal including a wide variety of equipment and materials. Also, you must have the personality and experience to guide clients in various ways. Today, professional fitness instructors primarily focus on working with clients at commercial gyms and private clubs.

Let us look at the roles and responsibilities that a Fitness Instructor is expected to carry while working with the clients.

Responsibilities of a Fitness Instructor

The responsibilities of a fitness instructor are significant and may include teaching, giving lessons. Also, motivating and encouraging participants in an exercise program, keeping records, and more. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology are all important tools for a fitness instructor.

Other responsibilities of fitness instructors include advising on the suitability of physical activity for people with disabilities. Also, for those who are obese, design tests of health and physical fitness. Further, develop training programs for physical activities, teach classes in physical education. Then, supervise students’ field trips for recreational activities, involve parents in school activities. Lastly, provide organized recreational activities for young people, and encourage personal health and fitness.

Fitness instructors work with many different types of clients, from senior citizens at a nursing home to personal trainers. They ensure that every client is safely working through a fitness routine and preventing injuries. The following information will give you a basic overview of the responsibilities of a fitness instructor.

With all this said, now is the time to move to the skills which you need to master to provide good training and education about physical and mental health to your client. Let’s discuss them in detail.

Skills Required to be a Fitness Instructor

The Fitness industry is filled with individuals who are seeking to maximize their skill set to increase their ability to influence others. If you are looking at pursuing a career as an instructor of fitness programs, the following are the skills that you must master for you to have a successful career.

Emotional Intelligence

Fitness instructors develop a wide range of skills to help their clients get in shape and stay positive through the process. A sense of emotional intelligence and empathy is a must-have for good instructors. This will make you stand out from the crowd. The ability to “put yourself in someone’s shoes” is an inseparable element of fitness training. While you guide your clients on their way to a fit and healthy lifestyle, it is essential to build rapport. This will create a comfortable environment for working out and staying consistent with the process.

Communication Skills

Like we discussed Emotional Intelligence, communication is another very important soft skill. Emotional intelligence has to be shown through good communication. Without proper communication, it is not possible to make your clients work hard and see the expected results. Over the course of time, the ability to express and understand the thoughts of each other is as important as any other skill on the list.

Leadership and Motivation

It is often said, fitness is not a destination, but a journey. And since this journey requires hard work and discipline, it is vital to stay motivated and keep the client motivated as well. Because we all know, the results of workouts will not reflect overnight. It can take months and years to achieve a certain level of fitness. Motivation is the catalyst that’s going to keep both clients and you on the same page in terms of achieving fitness goals.

Knowledgeable

All the above mentioned should be supported by brilliant Technical Knowledge. It is important to know the inside outs of the workout mechanisms, nutrition, diet, exercise machines, physiology, anatomy, and other such aspects of the human body and fitness.

Indeed, you need to keep an eye on what’s happening and comprehend what’s mainstream to convey the kinds of clients’ needs (it’s critical to remain new and pertinent). On the other hand, the facts demonstrate that rehearsing and considering the fundamental, conventional, essential development patterns stay the most ideal approach to help clients tone up, improve their cardio, build muscle mass, look and feel good and better, improve PBS, or whatever else they may be focusing on!

With all the past and current technical knowledge of fitness, it is important to stay updated with innovations and improvisations happening around the world. You should always search for proficient advancement to improve what they do. As the adage goes, “knowledge is power.”

Patience

Life is a journey and patience is one of the most important lessons that one can learn from it. Success doesn’t happen overnight; it takes patience and dedication and sometimes you need to get knocked down a few times before you can achieve that success. There are many examples of different individuals at various stages in their lives and career who have achieved great success by following the virtue of patience. Hence, it is important to stay patient and also keep the client-patient about the results.

Ways of becoming a Fitness Instructor

If you’re aiming to become a fitness instructor, it’s great to know where and how to start! Whether you want to become a personal trainer, group class instructor, or fitness training professional, there are a few ways to start the career. Here are some tips on the best ways to become a fitness instructor that will help you begin your fitness journey.

Acquire the necessary skills

First and foremost, you have to acquire the skills to work in any industry. If you wish to be a fitness instructor, the first thing is learning about anatomy, exercises, nutrition, diet, workout plans, supplements, etc. Once you master these skills, only then you should take the next step. Because your clients would rely on your knowledge while putting their fitness goals and body on the line. Thus, it is important to know all the technicalities before you guide anyone else.

Take a Certification Course

Taking a certification course is a great way to test your technical skills and get a chance to learn from experts in the field. Getting validation for your skills and knowledge can help you a lot while you are seeking a job. This helps in winning the trust of the client/employer. Anyone who is a fitness enthusiast and is taking his or her fitness seriously will go for a certified trainer. And thus, you should always look to earn a credential.

Practical Experience

There are many reasons why it is believed that it is important for fitness trainers to have practical experience. First of all, it teaches them how to interact with clients, and be motivated for them. Motivation can make or break a workout session. If you are unable to motivate the client, he or she won’t go hard during the workout. And this would result in a failure to achieve the goals.

You must have start wondering! Which one is better? Yoga or Gym.

But wait. It’s not the way it seems like. First of all, you must know that both yoga and gym come under one category and that is ‘Fitness’. But if both come under one category that doesn’t mean they should be compared. Yoga has its own advantages and so do the gym. Why can’t we think over to the point that both are beneficial for us to workout because in reality, they do. It’s just that which workout you like and which you don’t. Also, there are many myths regarding yoga and gym which one should definitely get over with. So let’s discuss them:

The myths of yoga:

You must be good at stretching

There is something like mantras involved

You can replace it with other forms of workout

All types of yoga are same

Yoga connects body, mind and soul

The myths of gym:

Gym is for the adults

Lifting weights will give you more mass

The more you do gym, the more you will be benefited

You have to take supplements

Gym is good for older people

I know it’s hard to believe that each of these 4 points are myths and nothing more. But you are going to believe it because one by one we will be discussing the reasons for each of the four points. And I’m guessing its easy to believe when there is a proper scientific background attached to any reason.

Many of you’d thinking- why the 5th point is in bold- what so special about it? Its because the fifth point is not a myth instead its the fact. Yes, we will discuss it with scientific reasons too. But before discussing the myths, don’t you think we must know what actually yoga and gym do? And for that we must study them in detail. So let’s start with yoga first.

YOGA

As we all must know that all our languages are originated from sanskrit, that means every word has his own meaning in sanskrit. Therefore, in this manner the word yoga is defined- ‘to unite’ or ‘to add’. As I said earlier, yoga connects mind, body and soul because yoga means union, integration or discipline.

Thus, the whole meaning of yoga comes out to be uniting or integrating discipline. Yoga is the best medicine to stay fit, control weight and reduce stress level. It also helps in meditation practices and calming the nervous system. Besides, if a male practice yoga then he will be called ‘yogi’ and if a female practices yoga, she will be called as ‘yogini’.

Yoga have seven principle branches, such as Bhakti yoga (the yoga of devotion), Hatha yoga (the yoga of physical discipline), Jnana yoga (the yoga of wisdom), Karma yoga (the yoga of self- transcending action), Mantra yoga (the yoga of potent sound), Raja yoga (the royal yoga), Tantra yoga ( the yoga of continuity). Also, there are various asanas in yoga. Such as

Standing Poses

Adho mukha svansana

Malasana

Tadasana

Uttanasana

Seated Poses

Badha konasana

Sukhasana

Dandasana

Resting Poses

Balasana

Padangusthasana

Masyendrasana

Viparita karani

Balancing Poses

Vasishthasana

Vrksasana

After poses and principles, here it comes the yoga breathing or we usually call it as ‘Pranayama’. It teaches you the real science of breath control or breathing techniques. Basically pranayama comes from three words and that are: prana- life force, yama- discipline, ayama- expansion. Thus, pranayama is a way to take deep healthy breaths. And its a great help to prepare for the meditation practices.

Now, the inhaling and exhaling in yoga breathing is defined in four different stages. It involves reversals in the direction of the movements of muscles and of expansive or contractive movements of lungs, thorax abdomen. These stages are: Puraka i.e. inhalation, Abhyantara kumbhaka i.e. pause after inhaling or the full pause, Rechaka i.e. exhalation. Bahya kumbhaka i.e. pause after exhaling or the empty pause.

Also, there are two more breathing techniques named as ‘kapalabhati’ and ‘Anuloma viloma’. In kapalabhati, we breathe faster and use only abdominal breathing, not the chest breathing. It is helpful specifically for cleansing the air passages and blockages in the chest. On the other side, in anuloma viloma we inhale through one nostril, then hold and exhale from another nostril. The ratio to be maintained is 2:8:4. The left nostril is called ida and the right nostril is called pingala.

Okay! Now, we know that yoga connects mind, body and soul. So lets move onto the other myths that we have discussed above. People think if you want to do yoga, you should be flexible. But the truth is yoga itself gives relaxation to mind and body which implies it helps you to be stretchable and more flexible. Also, There is no such things like mantras, it can be any short word or phrase which calms your mind and maintain peace within your system. For religious persons it can be ‘Om’, ‘hallelujah’, ‘hail marry full of grace’ or ‘I surrender all to you’. And for the non- religious persons it can be ‘one’, ‘peace’, ‘me’ or ‘love’.

Some people thinks that yoga can be replaced with any other form of fitness exercise. But I must clear that yoga is not just about fitness, it unites ones body, mind and soul. Also, people believes that all yoga are same. No, is the answer for that because there are various forms of yoga like lyengar yoga, bikram yoga, ashtanga yoga and many others. And each of them is different from one another either in mental or physical discipline. Therefore, yoga comes with a meaning way beyond that one think it would be.

That’s a lot about yoga, now lets focus on gym and what it really means.

GYM

‘Gymnasium’ Is the word from which ‘gym’ came from. So basically, gym is an indoor large place where people come together with the aim to get fit using equipments and machines. There are various types of machines placed to train and target each different muscle group of our body, effectively. The Greek word, gymnasium means ‘school for naked eyes’. Also, they made this a locality to educate the young men physical exercises I.e. gymnasium. They had this custom to do exercises with naked body and then bathing and relaxing. After bathing, they may go to hit the libraries.

In the gym, either we play with our body weight or we use some resistance or weight training. Most of the people join gym for various personal purposes like some wants to reduce their weight or some want to gain their mass or some just want to be fit and maintain their physique. In resistance or weight training, exercise is performed to contract the muscles against any external resistance and all of this helps to increase strength, mass and endurance. Also there are different styles to perform with weights in the gym such as olympic lifting, power lifting or weight lifting.

Gyming is an important practice to be performed in this era, because long ago when we hunt for food, our muscles do a workout in making shelters, hunting for food and lots of other work to stay alive. But now, our life has become so easy with the replacement of humans to machine. And due to all this our physical activity and workout have been stopped. That’s why the gyming is of so much value for this generation of people, where everyone use lifts rather than climbing staircase.

Now, let’s focus on the myths about gyming and how can we overcome them? Yes, of-course by gaining some real knowledge about how actually things work.

After reading it all, you must be thinking yoga is damn good and gym is much of a need. So what to do- yoga or gym? See that’s the thing, that’s the speciality of both because you can perform your workout by combining both of them. We can do stretching before( warm-up ) and after( cool down ) gym with yoga poses. Thus, to get better results, you can perform few more asanas of yoga in your workout schedule. Therefore, Yoga will give peace, flexibility and calmness to your mind, body and soul. And gym will provide you the strength and power. Also if you are practicing gym workouts, just add some of the yoga poses and see the difference.

‘Try yoga and gym combine’

DIET!! – Now what this word really means to you?

Does it sound like the synonym of food?

Because many still believes that diet and food are more or less the same. Okay. Let me elucidate, traditionally.

“Diet” is any food that an individual or community incessantly eats Or Any kind of product or substance that a living being intakes to stay work and healthy. However, we also use this word when a person restricts themselves to eat much either to lose weight or for medical reasons. That has a whole different meaning to it. We’ll discuss that later. But first we must focus on diet and why it is important at all. And yes, now at least you wouldn’t be seeing food and diet as same. If still, you have any doubt left. That’ll be good because sooner or later you will be getting everything on a proper and balanced diet.

Why do we even focus on what we eat?

Why we always have to take care of what we are taking inside our body. I Know, many of you are wondering, ‘WAIT WHATT!!! we don’t even think like that’. Now that’s the key difference between a Healthy Heart and a weak Heart. we have to understand that’s the main loophole. That’s the part from which all our infections, diseases, illness or maladies get their way inside our body. A Healthy heart means a healthy body and everyone can achieve his or her healthy state if he/she focus, think and care of what is going inside their body. What actually they are going to leave or eat. The only difference between a fit and unfit is what you choose to eat. Either you choose a balanced diet or an imbalanced diet. A Proper one or just the random stuff.

By the way, we are lucky, at least we can choose. Unlike our born which was fixed by our fate. Apart from sarcasm, we have this advantage to choose before eat or the course of diet we’ll be taking. So why don’t we choose wisely and adopt a balanced diet. But for that, one must know what is a balanced diet.

Now, what really a balanced diet is?

Why there is a need to take such diet?. First of all, a balanced diet is the mixture of all the nutrients, vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and minerals which is to be taken via the different variety of food and liquid drinks in the right proportion body needs it. Now, why do we even need it. If we take a balanced and proper diet then there would be an optimum utilization of all the ingredients and not a single percentage of any valuable vitamin or mineral would get wasted.

Although, it is appropriate and economical as we don’t take any product which isn’t in need. And all of this will give us good and better health. Contrary to the balanced diet, here it comes the imbalanced diet, you take anything and everything that is available near you. Whether it’s benefiting you or harming you, till its taste is good on your tongue you continue to intake. Sometimes, you take the imbalanced diet just because it’s your favourite food or it tastes good.

But we must know what the consequences of such diet are. An improper diet may lead you to deficiency or excess of any vitamin, mineral or protein in the system which may forefront you to many severe health problems. Such health hazards are high blood pressure, heart problems, obesity, diabetes and a lot more. So let’s not focus on the worse side because we can prevent it by handling our diet and by being diet conscious.

You must know why we are focusing so much on a proper diet because the whole world, national or international every person needs and deserves to be fit and healthy. Even the aged people, pregnant woman, lactation, small child need to take proper enriched diet because what you take will decide what you give. It’s better said that ‘the output will reflect what the input was’. so let’s take a step and improve our input for better and healthy us.

Now we know, what balanced diet is. So let’s focus on the procedure to follow a balanced diet. We must start by the components of a good diet chart:-

1. Protein

This nutrient is very important for human body because everything in our body is made up of protein. Our muscles, cells, tissues, organs everything. It helps in bodybuilding, mass gain, growth and development. Its major work is to make new cells and repair old ones. In a period of 24 hours our body needs 20% of protein in our diet. It can be taken through various food products such as egg whites, chicken, soya beans, milk and many others.

Protein Rich Foods

2. Carbohydrate

Also known as ‘carbs’. It is the basic nutrient that the body needs because it provides energy to all the functions of the body. When we eat carbs, our body digests it in the small intestine and convert it into ‘calorie’(unit of energy in our body). All our voluntary and involuntary actions take place due to calories. Thus, if we don’t add carbs in our diet we may feel weakness in our entire system and may lead to different problems. However, there is a diet called ‘keto’ diet, in which we take a full balanced diet with just excluding carbohydrate from our diet. It is been performed in order to use the fat stored in our body as the fuel of the body in exchange of calories by ketones produced during the process. The main food products to take carbs are wheat, grains, rice, johar, bajra, oatmeal and others.

3. Fats

Fats have a strategic role in our body. It is basically a storehouse for energy. It also helps in circulation of vitamins throughout the body. The excessive fats that have been taken by the body are converted into fatty acids and then stored in the fat cells for future need. As these fat cells can be broken into calories whenever there is a requirement of energy in the body. Also, there are two types of fats – good fat and bad fat. As the name suggest Good fat are good for the body and bad fats are bad for the body. Fats can be taken through unrefined oil rather than taking it from refined oil as it contains more nutritional value.

4. Vitamins and Minerals

These are also very important in our diet. They play a role of completing our diet. And they also help us in regulating body metabolism and protecting from infection, diseases and any metabolic imbalance. There are different vitamins such as Vitamin A,B,C,D,E,K. Also minerals like chlorine, phosphorous, potassium. These can be taken by various veggies, dark colour leafy veg. Like broccoli, spinach, beans and others.

We must add variety of colourful food products in our diet as many as possible because the more colourful it will be, the more nutritious value it contains. Thus, this will help us to achieve our target of well-nutritious diet.

Now, you would be thinking, when and how much to take these food products. Well in that case, let’s quickly go through the diet chart which you can follow. There can be 3-4 meals in a day for healthy and full diet. So here are the categories for the diet chart:

1. Breakfast

It should be like king size breakfast because your body is in true need of food and water after a gap of 7-8 hours(sleep). You must start by taking approximately 7-8 glasses of water with a bowl full of variety of fruits and followed by some cereals like oats, daliya, cornflakes. After that, the main meal should be eaten which should be full of carbs, proteins etc. And at last, after a gap of 30 min., you should take 500ml. Of milk. So that throughout the day your body would be getting enough proteins to work properly.

2. Lunch

It should be taken like queen size. A lot of combinations can be done with rice and varieties of dals like rajma, chola, channa, arhar. Even brown rice can be eaten with fish curry. And the important care should be given to salads because roughage is vital component in every meal you take. So never skip salads in your meals.

3. Evening

In the evening, you can take a cup of tea or coffee, whichever you like, with some dry fruits. Also 3-4 whole egg can be taken. This meal should be very light. And always try to avoid snacks which contain maida and stuff on a daily basis because it contains a lot fat which is of no use to the body.

4. Dinner

Dinner must be taken like a beggar. A little of everything should be there in this meal. A chapatti with vegetables and colorful salad. Paneer and chicken can also be taken. And at last, again a glass of milk for about 500ml. must be taken as it helps the body to digest it for the whole night and to slowly absorb the nutrients while you’ll be asleep.

Therefore, if you follow this diet routine daily it will help you to stay healthy and fit. And this can be your reason to live more joyfully. Because ‘happy stomach means happy you’. Always remember, only the ‘Healthy’ you can make it to the 60’s in this era where the average age of humans is declining. Even if you are in your 30’s or 40’s or even in your teenage, remind yourself that what you are eating is counting on your future health. So follow the correct diet plan and protect your future, today.

At last, Let’s talk about the other meaning of diet also called ‘Dieting’. Which people (auntie’s) usually talk while they’re gossiping. like

Aunt. 1- Hey! Seema did you notice Reema. She is loosing weight, I think she’s on dieting.

Aunt. 2- Yeah, I noticed it too. But why is she looking so weak and tired?.

Okay!! Jokes apart. Let’s get more into dieting.

‘Dieting’ is performed by various individuals for several different reasons. Either by restricting there diet by eating less carbohydrate, fat, protein or by including a limited amount of meals in there diet. There are various reasons to do so as some individuals want to reduce their weight and some wants to stabilize it. Also sometimes individuals go for dieting to achieve a short term goal. It can be anything like a wedding or some party or to get the beach body. But… the main question is -Is dieting really helpful?

Now, for this question to be answered one must know how actually dieting play a role in losing a person weight. So basically When you are on dieting you reduce your calories intake which leads to calories deficiency in your body and due to deficiency your body breaks down body fat into glucose which then provide energy(calorie) to function efficiently. So Now, Do dieting really helps to get rid of the body’s fat?. The answer would be- yes! To a point it helps. But is it really a good way to be fit via dieting?

No, I would’nt recommend anyone because there is a strong reason to say so. While dieting, you may loose weight due to heavy loss of water from your body in the process. But when you stop dieting your weight may come back. Therefore, in the firstpace you never really get fit. Moreover, dieting leads you with weakness in your body which Seema (Aunt. 2) do notice in Reema because of dieting in above gossips. And how can a weak body be fit.

Thus, My view is clear. Why to even go for dieting when you can eat a perfect healthy diet. And for the over weight, one must start functional or resistance training exercises. Also, Yoga would be.

Every body is astonished to see the people young at the age group of 40-50. In today’s society every one wants to look young and attractive. Old age has become a social problem in our time but the actor Salman, Sharukh and Aamir Khan is an example of young at the age group of 40-50.

Every one has a desire to stay young and enjoy the life as much as he can. No matter what lengths we go to, to stay young, there will always be that fear in the back of our minds of getting old. Because of this we often look at aging as a negative perception. We fear the mental and physical decline. The thought of not remembering our past or even friends and families is scary, what is there to like about forget all the wonderful memories that took us so long to accumulate. And then there’s the fear of physical decline, knowing that we risk the chance of not being as youthful as we would like to be.

Missing out on all the fun of playing with the grandchildren, taking long walks at night or even those bike rides that we once enjoyed. The thought loneliness, being unwanted, or becoming a burden and dependent upon our friends and family members is another reason we fear getting old. It seems like when we get older our friends tend to diminish and our interests seem to clash with the younger generation, so they stop coming around as much. Then there’s the thought of having to rely on other people to help us in our daily activities. The last thing we want is for someone to have to take care of us, and loosing our independence. No more being able to jump in the car and go to the store or friends houses. Finally there’s the thought of disease and death, which people state are their biggest fears or old age. Who wants to think about all the health problems we will have to look forward to and all the doctors’ visits and pills that accompany these problems.

Organic food is a dire need of today’s lifestyle as generation of present time suffering because of their bad diet. Organic food is healthiest food obtained by organic farming. It is the food which contains all the nutrients in natural proportion which, if we eat regularly, makes of body strong enough to fight with diseases. If a person eats this food then there will have less chances of having problems like diabetes, heart attack, hypertension, cancer, and obesity as organic food does not high in cholesterol, sugar, sodium, additives and preservatives. Organic food is something which is far away from chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, man-made pesticides etc as all these things change the natural effect of the food and make it unfit for our health.

Fast Food or you can say HIPPY FOOD is the food served commercially, which takes only a few seconds to assemble, is palatable and affordable. But in an attempt to meet taste requirements at a low price, several nutritional compromises are made. Hippy Food puts us at a greater risk of diabetes, hypertension, heart attack, cancer and obesity as fast food are usually high in cholesterol, sugar, sodium, additives and preservatives, each of which has been linked to the development of chronic degenerative disorders. Fibre and antioxidants like protective components are very low in the hippy food.

Many hippy foods have a wide variety of chemical additives, used to preserve, emulsify, colour and otherwise enhance the products to ensure uniformity taste and profitability. These may pose health risks, Monosodium glutamate (MSG) FOR EXAMPLE, is often used as a flavour enhancer, and can lead to headaches, tightness in the chest, and a burning sensation in the forearms and back of the neck.

The oil used by fast food restaurants in India is mostly hydrogenated vegetable oil. It is deleterious to health in more than one ways. It is not metabolised by the body like natural fat is, causing an increase in the levels of blood cholesterol and arteries get clogged. Most eating places heat the same oil again and again, thereby creating several harmful diseases. Consuming more calories from fat or refined sugar also displaces fresh fruits and vegetables, milk and other nutrient-packed foods from our diet.

Largely due to increased consumption of fast and processed food in the past 90 years, our fat intake has increased about 30 percent and sugar consumption has gone up by 40 percent. This affects the health of each and every person growing with this life style. Today most of the generation are influence by the life styles prevailing in foreign countries and this thinking destroying our culture as well as affecting our health. We lose out on the fibre, vitamins, minerals and other protective foods we need to protect us against heart attacks, cancer and other degenerative disorders. We should encourage adopting a healthy diet rather to eat hippy food.

Another terror rain upon Capital instead of arms and ammonisation, smoke threatening the life and health of people living in Delhi. Delhi is suffering with severe air pollution caused due to the impetuous use of commercial vehicles and industries. Delhi is a centre of trade connecting many cities, many commercial vehicles including heavy trucks and buses have to pass through Delhi for the smooth run of economic activities of many entrepreneurs which leads to increase in the pollution level of Delhi. Many policies comes up with a solution which shows a good response, policy like parking regulation smoothening the flow of traffic, use of CNG and most of all introducing metro, earlier these policy claims to have had some success in bringing down air pollution for instance during the Asian game 2014 it was noticed that air pollution is decreased drastically but now it seems all these policy together are just not enough. According to popular belief most of the air pollution in Delhi is not because of the vehicular traffic. According to the source, statistical data shows that vehicular traffic should be the least of concern because 50% of the air pollution is caused by the road dust 23% by industries and only 7% of the air pollution is caused by the vehicles.
In the past few years metro station spread drastically connecting various areas of Delhi and NCR and Delhi metro proves as an environment friendly means of commute but metro construction result in contributing road dust causing air pollution which is clearly not the agenda of construction of metros. Industries contributing there part too. In May 2014 the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced that Delhi comes under one of the most polluted city in the world.
Delhi is following footsteps of Beijing as recently Beijing declares first-ever red alert for air pollution. Failure of all kind of efforts of controlling pollution, Environmental Protection Bureau of Beijing asked people to do best of there effort to reduce there out door activity.
AAP starts a policy to control pollution in Delhi to save the life and health of people living in Delhi. This policy is similar to the policy implemented in Capital of China to reduce pollution. This policy is fully supported by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. According to the policy,” private vehicles bearing odd and even registration numbers will be allowed to ply only on alternate days starting January 1 to radical pollution control”. Gopal Rai, Transport and Rural Development Minister of Delhi under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, said that” in the first phase from January 1 to January 15, 2016, operation of odd and even number vehicles will be in effect from 8 am to 8 pm. Private vehicles with both odd and even numbers will be allowed before 8 am and after 8 pm. Sundays will be exempted from this campaign”. Arvind Kejriwal also raised the issue of installation of CCTV cameras across Delhi to which Singh assured him of cooperation. The issue is in Delhi High Court now and there is needless bickering.
Still it’s a long road ahead and needs Delhi people support to bring actual change because only various policies are not enough. As same policy appears to be failing in Beijing. People needs to understand the upcoming problems they are going to face and better prepare themselves for the upcoming tragedy. Avoiding this or ignoring are not an option.

We will be able to keep the diseases at bay

According to the facts, vegetarians consume less animal fats and cholestrol (and vegans consume no animal fats and cholestrol). Thus, the vegetarians have lower blood pressure compared to people who eat meat. Hence they have less chances of heart diseases and cancer.

We won’t fall for foodborne diseases

It has been readily observed that meat, poultry, fish are rich in food borne illness outbreaks. Moreover there is always a greater chance of consuming toxins and chemicals. People who consume fish are prone to many diseases easily because it is a fact that fish contains carcinogenics and heavy metals which cannot be removed even by cooking and freezing.

We will be able to stay healthy and keep our weight in check

Yes, it is true that vegetarians are overweight. But that is due to the blind consumption of junk and sweets. A proper balanced vegetarian diet helps stay fit and maintain the perfect shape.

We shall live longer

A proper vegetarian diet helps build up strong bones and gives energy. Moreover, meat can be difficult to digest. According to the research, vegetarians tend to be healthier overall and live longer.

We will save money

Vegetarian diet is cheaper than chicken and meat. In addition to this, it contains unhealthy fats and is higher in calories.

The innocent souls shall be spared

Believing the facts, ten billion animals are slaughtered for human consumption every year. While we are killing someone to fill our stomachs and enjoy our tastebuds, we have a choice to spare them for our own good.

So go, try some vegetarian food. And the best part is that you will find your plate full of colours. A balanced vegetarian diet contains different foods with different colours!

Can you believe that India is still vastly hungrier than Africa! Yes, it is true that though there is steady and widespread fall in malnutrition, but we still lack behind. According to study by UNICEF; In India 20% of children under 5 years suffers from wasting. 43% children under 5 years are underweight and 48% are stunted due to chronic malnutrition. There is an improvement in the statistics due to rapid economic growth and rising household incomes and also more spending on midday meals in India, Madhya Pradesh has cut the proposition of its children who go hungry from 60% to 36%, Bihar from 56% to 37%. Maharashtra from 37% to 25%.

Even after such improvement in UP children are still below normal height and weight. The most common reason is that mothers are undernourished themselves. Mothers and girls get less food to eat, less health care and lack of education than males. More than half of the girls aged between 15-18 had low Body Mass Index, which are more liker to produce undernourished babies.

In India :

1) Only 25% of newborns are put to breast within one hour of birth.

2) Only 20% of children are fed appropriately.

3) More than 70% children are anaemic and many other problems.

Amartya Sen nobel prize winner economist says Mr. Modi doesn’t provise strong leadership on health policy. He notes that spending in health care fell this year’s national budget. India is hardly devoting 1% of GDP to it. Even in African countries, proposition of children who are underweight is 21% well below India’s level. To improve India’s status country has to act like Maharashtra where they have excellently handled malnutrition, they have identified 4 crucial changes that are :

a) better and more frequent feeding of infants

b) more care for pregnant women

c) higher household incomes

d) rise in age at which women begin having babies.

There is an urgent need for some strong policies to be implemented to improve the status of health in India.

Food is essential for our bodies to:

develop, replace and repair cells and tissues;

Produce energy to maintain warm, move and work;

Carry out chemical processes such as the digestion of nutrient;

Protect against, protest and fight infection and recover from illness.

Food is created up of nutrients. Micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals are required solely in diminished quantities. Micronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fat are needed in larger quantities. The body cannot work properly if one or more foods are lacking. A sound and balanced diet provides nutrients in the correct quantities and combinations that are safe and free from disease and harmful substances.

Prevention is better than the cure. The earlier a person begins to eat a healthy and balanced diet, the more he or she will remain sound. In one case the weight has been lost, it may be difficult to regain it because of tiredness and lack of appetite.

The section below contains some guidelines on healthy and balanced nutrition. These apply to everyone – whether they are tainted with HIV or not.

HEALTHY AND BALANCED NUTRITION

Enjoy a wide variety of foods

Eating well means eating a diversity of nutrients. No single food contains all the nutrients that our bodies need, except for breastmilk for babies up to the age of six months. Consuming a mixture of different foods will provide the nutrients that are all-important for our bodies. By taking care to take foods that are in season and locally available, feeding can be pleasurable, healthy and affordable.

Eat staple foods with every meal

Staple foods should make improving the biggest portion of a meal. These nutrients are comparatively cheap and provide a dependable sum of energy and some protein. Staples include cereals (such as rice, corn, millet, sorghum, wheat and barley), starchy roots (such as spuds, sweetened potatoes, cassava and yams) and starchy fruit (such as plantains).

However, basic foods are not enough to supply all the nutrients the body demands. Other foods must be consumed to provide additional energy, proteins and micronutrients.

Eat legumes if possible every day

These foods provide a person with the proteins needed to prepare and restore the body and also to build up strong muscles. They are serious sources of vitamins, minerals and fiber and help to maintain the immune system activity.

Legumes include beans, peas, lentils, groundnuts (including peanut butter) and soya beans. When eaten with staple foods the quality of protein is increased. Legumes are a cheaper protein source than animal foods, such as beef and chicken, and should be eaten every day, if possible.

Eat animal and milk products regularly

Foods from animals and fish should also be eaten as much as you can give them. They supply good-quality proteins, vitamins and minerals and extra energy. They will serve to strengthen muscles and the immune system.

These foods include all kinds of meat, poultry (birds), fish, eggs and dairy products such as milk, rancid milk, buttermilk, yogurt and cheese. If insects, such as caterpillars or grasshoppers, are part of your diet, they also supply beneficial nutrients.

Eat fruit and vegetables every day

Veggies and fruit are an important component of a sound and balanced meal. They provide the vitamins and minerals that maintain the body functioning and the immune system strong. These nutrients are particularly important for people surviving with HIV/AIDS to fight infection. Eat a wide variety as each one provides different vitamins and minerals. A list of recommended items is provided below.

Use fats and oils as well as sugar and sugary foods

Fats, oils and bread are good sources of energy and can help one gain body weight, which can be especially significant for those living with HIV/AIDS. They also add flavor to food, thereby stimulating appetite.

Fats and oils act as an significant function in a healthy and balanced diet. Even modest quantities can provide heaps of vim. Fats and oils include butter, lard, margarine, cooking oil (vegetable, coconut and palm oil), cream, mayonnaise and coconut cream. They are too found in avocados, oilseeds (sunflower, peanut and sesame), fatty meat and fish, curds and cheese.

Sugars and sugary foods include honey, jam, table sugar, cakes and cookies.

Although fats and carbohydrates are good sources of energy, they are not rich in other foods. They should thus be consumed in addition to other foods, not in lieu of them.

Drink lot of clean and secure water

Water is important for life and is necessary every day. A person requires close to eight cups of fluid per day. When it is really spicy, while exercising, sweating or suffering from diarrhea, vomiting or fever, a mortal needs to pledge yet more to replace the water that has been missed. If drinking-water is gathered from a protected well or borehole, it is important to store it in a neat container. If the urine is from an unprotected well or river the water should be boiled for at least ten minutes and stored in a clear container (see advice on food hygiene). In increase to drink fresh water, fluid can also come from juices, soups, vegetables and fruit as well as meals that have gravy or sauces. Nevertheless, avoid drinking tea or coffee with a meal, as this can cut the concentration of iron from the nutrient.

Alcoholic drinks remove water from the body and should thus be eaten exclusively in modified quantities. They can also step in with the action of medicines.

Healthy children equal a healthy tomorrow. However, it is highly disturbing when it comes to thinking of India’s future. It is because of the grave issue of malnutrition that our overall economic growth is at stake.Well, let us first acquaint ourselves with what exactly is “Malnutrition.”

Malnutrition refers to a situation when a person’s diet does not provide sufficient nutrients for growth and maintenance. This terminology includes both undernourishment and over nourishment or we could simply associate the term to be ‘unbalanced nutrition’. However, we limit our study to only undernourishment. It is a common phenomenon among women folk and young children. Their body remains stunted and they become vulnerable to many health disorders. Such people have very low life expectancy or these people suffer miserably, surrounded by a flow of deadly diseases.

So we see that malnutrition is one of the major challenges the Indian economy is facing today. It not only poses a hindrance to economic growth but also limits the country to realize its full potential. It is really sad to know that while on one hand, the economy is growing (India is now a 2 trillion dollar economy) and income levels are rising , on the other hand, the issue of malnutrition among children and women is persistent and is expected to rise in the economy in the future. With nearly 200 million people undernourished, India is at the top list of the most malnourished economy of the world. But what exactly are the root causes for this phenomenon?

Poverty is one of the major reasons for malnourishment in India. People fall short of enough finances to feed their family and they end up with their growth stunted. One of the key reasons is education and lack of awareness among the women folk. Women ensure the proper nourishment of their children but they themselves lack basic knowledge on feeding up their children which is the gravity of the scenario. Now, let me draw your attention towards another cause-Gender inequality. Yes, gender inequality too leads to malnourishment among women and children. As we all are familiar that our society is patriarchal or male-dominated where women always get a lower status in the society. They are denied basic necessities of health facilities and sanitation which are extremely important as women are carriers of a new generation and play a key role in survival of mankind on earth. But quite unfortunately, women in India do not get the required education skills, so end up being undernourished. This makes them physically incapable to give births to new ones and if they do, their bodies become weaker. They fail to provide proper nutrition to their young ones and so this vicious cycle of persisting malnutrition continues.

Hence, I conclude that there is a grave need for this issue to gain due attention and necessary steps been undertaken for the continued existence of mankind and economic growth in its true sense!
