The Status Bar

The status bar tells you an awful lot about how many of AutoCAD’s operating variables are set and in which way. The status bar does more than show you settings, however. You can set, reset, and change most settings from the status bar. The status bar gives you information at a glance about the state of the drawing. For example, the coordinate readout at the far left of the status bar tells you the location of your cursor. The tools in the status bar offer aids to the drafting process.
