The self-assessment framework is a systematic and regular review by an organization of its activities and results
for the EFQM Excellence Model. Moreover, the self-assessment process gives access to the organization to observe its strengths in which improvements are made and then monitors the progress.

Excellence Model

The European Excellence model for self-assessment

  • It is a self-assessment framework technique for an organization that wants to monitor and improve its performance.
  • Moreover, the EFQM Excellence model recognizes that processes are the source from which a company or organization releases the talents of people to produce results performance.

  • Above all, the EFQM provides a weighting for each criterion, shown in the above figure, that uses it in scoring self- assessments and making awards.

Thus, EFQM have built a model of criteria and a review framework against which an organization may face and measure itself, such a process is known as self-assessment.

Moreover, the self-assessment framework promotes business excellence for involving systematic review of processes and results. In addition, it highlights strengths and improvement opportunities.

Criteria of Excellence Model for Self-Assessment

Enablers

In the Excellence Model, the enabler criteria of leadership focus on policy and strategy, people, resources and partnerships to achieve results. Assessing Enablers is done on the basis of two factors,

  • The degree of excellence of the approach.
  • The degree of deployment of the approach.

Leadership

In this, there is the development of values for long-term success and implementing these via appropriate actions and behaviors. Self-assessment should demonstrate how leaders:

  • Firstly, develop the mission, vision, and values
  • Moreover, they should be role models of a culture of excellence.
  • They are personal involvement in the organization’s management system for development, implementation and improvement. etc

Policy and strategy

In this, there is the implementation of the organization mission and vision via a clear focus on stakeholder strategy with relevant policies, plans, objectives, targets, and processes. Moreover, Self- assessment should demonstrate how policy and strategy are,

  • Firstly, on the basis of present and future needs and expectations of stakeholders.
  • Then, developing, reviewing and updating.
  • Communicate and implement. etc

People

This defines, how the organization manages, develops and releases the knowledge and full potential of its people at an individual. In this, Self-assessment should demonstrate:

  • Firstly, planning, managing and improving resources.
  • Then, the identification and development of knowledge and competencies.
  • Involvement and empowerment of people.

Partnerships and Resources

This defines, how the organization plans and manages its external partnerships and internal resources in order to support its policy and strategy. Self- assessment should demonstrate how:

  • Firstly, managing external partnerships.
  • After that, managing finances.
  • Managing buildings, equipment, and materials.

Processes

How the organization designs, manages and improves its processes in order to support its policy strategy and fully satisfy its customers and stakeholders. Self-assessment should demonstrate how:

  • designing and managing systematic processes.
  • improving processes using innovation in order to fully satisfy and generate increasing value for customers and other stakeholders.

Assessing the enablers criteria

The criteria have to do with how an organization or business unit achieves its results. Self-assessment asks the following questions in relation to each criterion

  • What is currently done in this area?
  • How is it done? Is the approach is on the basis of systematic and prevention?
  • How is the approach review is done and what improvements are undertaken following review?

Results

The EFQM Excellence Model’s result criteria of customer results, people results, society results, and key performance results focus on what the organization achievement and in relation to its

  • External customer;
  • People;
  • Local, national, and international society, as appropriate;
  • Planning performance.
