The art of increasing sales by displaying items plays a vital role in enhancing the ambience of the store & adds to the feel good factor of the customer. The various manners this is done is through display of types, display of concepts, display of content or display or arrangement.

The display of types could be a Selection display (when customers choose out of a given selection), Special display (where only notable presentations of merchandise is made for attracting a special attention of the customers and making a lasting impression on them), Point of Buy display (to stimulate immediate buy at point of buying) and Audiovisual display (the use of audio visual medial for stimulating consumer buy).

The display of concepts is done by making a judicious mix of Display elements (colors, textures, lines, shapes or space), Display components (merchandise, forms, fixtures, props, signs or lights) and Display principles (unity, variety, dominance, rhythm, balance or proportion).

The display of content is done through Unit groupings (merchandise highlighting a separate category of product items), Related grouping (ensamble display that accessory items alongwith the featured merchandise) and Theme grouping (vehicles around which the five sensory appeals can be employed.)

The display of arrangement is the art of organising display merchandise into interesting, pleasurable, and stimulating patterns. The various arrangements could be pyramidal, zig-zag, step or fanned out arrangement.
