Computer networks are of many different types such as Personal area network (PAN), Local area network (LAN) and Wide area network (WAN). The computer networks which are designed for personal use are known as PAN and in an area of 20 to 30 feet like Bluetooth. LAN is spread across a small commercial area or company building. LANs are capable of higher data transfer at a speed of GigaBit.

Internet

It is an example of WAN (Wide Area Network) and is a worldwide network of networks. Internet works on TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) which are rules, about how data should be transmitted over a network. The Internet provides various services like E-mail, WWW, etc. Internet can be accessed by an ISP (Internet Service Provider) as MTNL, Airtel, etc. in India.

Email

It is electronic mail, commonly known as email or e-mail, is used to exchanging messages from a sender to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks.  Email systems are based on a store-and-forward model where the email servers accept, forward, deliver and store messages.

Web Browser

It is application software, which is used to locate, retrieve, and also display content on the World Wide Web, including Web pages, images, video, and other files.
