Employment Exchanges Compulsory Notification of Vacancies, 1959, Act not to apply in relation to certain vacancies in any employment. The enactment of The Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act was done in 1959. Thus, by the employers to provide for compulsory notification of vacancies to the Employment Exchanges.  And for the rendition of returns relating to the Employment Situation.

  • in agriculture and horticulture in any establishment in private sector;
  • in domestic service;
  • where the period of employment is less than three months;
  • to do unskilled office work;

Act not to apply in relation to certain vacancies

  • connected with the staff of Parliament;
  • proposed to fill through promotion or by absorption of surplus staff;
  • This carries a remuneration of fewer than sixty rupees a month.

Notification of vacancies to employment exchanges

Section 4 of the Act provides that the employer in every establishment in public sector in that State and the employer in every establishment in private sector. Therefore, in private sector every establishment pertaining to any class or category of establishments. Thus shall notify the vacancy to such employment exchanges as may be prescribed. However, to recruit any person through the employment exchange there is no obligation upon any employer to fill any vacancy.
