Configuring the Motherboard

Motherboard has various options and configuration is required for the required hardware setup

  • Older XT class motherboards are set by jumpers or DIP switches on the motherboard.
  • AT and later PCs, configuration options are stored in CMOS RAM and are set using the SETUP utility in the BIOS ROM.

The motherboard configuration should always be as per the requirements and components capabilities, as an incorrectly setup motherboard can cause PC to malfunction or even crash.
