Test Design

What is Test Design

"<yoastmark

Software test design is the process of designing different tests that uphold the eligibility of software before its release in the market. In addition, the process of test designing presumes high priority, as a poorly designed test will lead to improper testing of an application.

To ensure that the testing strategy outline is an effective one, following the given steps:

  • Firstly, gathering and understanding the requirements of the users
  • Secondly, deriving all-important business scenarios
  • Thirdly, designing test scenarios for all the important business scenarios
  • Lastly, assigning all the designed test scenarios to different test cases

Some of the most common design techniques are:

Software Test Design Techniques

It is divided into two major categories: static and dynamic techniques. Let’s give them a look.

Static Test Design Technique

Static testing refers to the testing of software manually or with the help of tools. It occurs during the early phase of the software development life cycle. Moreover, the static design is useful for testing multiple aspects of the software, including source code, functional and requirement specifications, and design documents and models.

Dynamic Test Design Techniques

Dynamic testing includes the application of the test object on a computer. In dynamic testing, various variable quantities such as memory usage, response time, CPU usage and overall performance of the software are analyzed against the expected output. Further, dynamic testing takes place during the validation process.
