The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) is the principal international trade association for the international shipping industry. It represents all sectors and trades (including tankers, bulk carriers, containerships and passenger ships) with those inter-governmental regulatory bodies that impact on shipping, especially the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The 37 national ship owners’ associations constitute the members of ICS, representing about 75% of the world merchant fleet.
It is the most-recognized global ship owners association which provides guidance to its members and consultation with other bodies on topics such as operations, regulatory and legal issues, and environmental safety.
