Font Formatting

Use a bulleted list when we have several items that logically fall out from a paragraph into a list. We can select from several types of symbols to use as bullets and we can change the color, and position of the bullet.

The Bullets and Numbering dialog box displays examples of seven numbers list styles. The document default is none. We can also change the appearance of the styles using the customize option. We can also change the right of None is the style we will use.

Word facilitates the creation of bulleted lists and numbered lists. In order to apply numbers to the existing text, select the paragraphs and click the Numbering button on the Formatting toolbar. Use the Bullets button on the Formatting toolbar to give bullet as prefix to the selected paragraphs. We can also begin numbering or bulleting by clicking the Numbering or Bullets button before starting to type. Word automatically numbers each additional paragraph or bullets subsequent paragraphs typed if we begin the list by clicking the Numbering or Bullets button. Its basic purpose is to count the number of paragraphs in a selection or in a document. For formatting the selected paragraph(s), select the Format menu, choose Bullets and Numbering, the following dialog box will appear on your screen. The dialog box contains the following control tabs-

Bulleted Tabs

Bulleted Tab displays eight options at once form which you can select any one of the formats. In case you wish to change the existing bullet style, select any one of the given bullet option except None and click on Customize button, another dialog box will pop-up to customize the bullet selection. Symbols will appear based on the current Font face, select the one you like and click on OK button to apply the selected bullet. The changes in bullet style will occur accordingly.

Numbered Tabs

Numbered tab also displays eight options at once from which you can select any set of numeric or alphabetic style for formatting or else click the Customize button, a Customize number list dialog box will appear from which you choose the number style out of the drop down list.

Outline Numbered Tabs

Word has a special feature to generate multi-level text with bullet or number format. For this you need to select Bullet or Number format style from the Outline Numbered control tab before typing anything in the document. Click the Customize button for any default setting, which then displays nine levels of indentations and thereby successive divisions can be set as per your requirement.

Customize Outline Numbered List: This provides an option to navigate between different levels by using the Indent buttons on the Formatting toolbar or simply click Tab and press (Shift + Tab) keys together for forward and backward movement of bulleted levels respectively.
