Health and positive thinking

We see the healthiest people are the happiest ones. They are active, agile and most importantly positive in all their endeavours. How can we continue to remain healthy? Researchers have found that positive thinking also contributes to our well being. Several diseases such as cancer have been treated due to positive thinking and strong will power A disease itself means putting your body out of ease a condition under which normal flow of our body breaks and dysfunctional possibilities happen. Meditation is becoming a lucrative option for several people. It has benefited numerous people by helping in controlling thought process and thereby health. It helps to relax the mind and the body which needs to work in constant synchronisation.

What about positive attitude? People who are pessimistic procrastinate a lot and more importantly do not have any firm belief. Ailments such as gastritis, head pain, migraine and some more can be easily treated by changing outlook towards life. A positive acceptance of changes and flexibility towards different aspects of life be it people or work can help us in remaining healthy.

Positive attitude also helps in keeping us focused towards our aspirations which keeps stress levels under control and thereby protects against problems such as high blood pressure which ultimately leads to ailments such as cardiac arrest.

Thus a positive attitude is essential to help us remain healthy.

Keeping the millennial talent intact..!
With today’s organisations most of the people in there belong to the age group of 25-35 and they are the millennia’s. Their talent, skills and requirement are very different from the generation of baby boomers. Organisations today need to support a dual talent pool, one being the Gen-X the other being the Gen-Y and this is making it tougher for them trying to hold the vast talent pool because of the different needs of the Gen-Y.

Gen-Y wants challenging work, if they are not satisfied they are ready to move on to newer arenas which intensify their challenges and have better growth prospects. A fire, a desire to achieve and be different is what keeps them motivated. As far as compensation is talked about as against popular beliefs cash is still the most preferred option for most of them. However these youngsters prefer flexible work hours wherein they are ready to face the project demands and challenges without being stuck up to the normal 9-5 routine. Leading companies today are changing their schedules to accommodate to the changing workforce. Employees today want to be evaluated and appreciated both in terms of fast advancements and new challenges.

With the changing needs in mind what are the new plans HR’s are looking into so as to bind their workforce. Companies today are increasing their social visibility to attract the socially glued up youngsters. Many companies are posting videos wherein the employees of the company share their experience in the company and the wonderful work environment. Some of them are posting videos of the luxurious interiors and the welfare facilities, such as gaming zones, spa, gymnasium and other recreational facility given by the company are shown. Compensation which is more lucrative and works that is more demanding. Companies would only survive if they understand the needs of this generation and so the HR function needs to strategize and change the way it attracts and retains its talent with doing things that are more attractive to this generation and also respects the sentiments and needs of the Gen-X.

Health and positive thinking

Cloud computing is an innovative ‘‘disruptive’’ technology that is changing how information and communication technologies (ICTs) are accessed and used. Its perceived benefits include lower costs, scalability, portability and reduced software and hardware obsolescence.

Cloud computing has been linked to entrepreneurship and innovation with its ‘‘pay on demand’’ model making it ‘‘easier and cheaper than ever for anyone anywhere to be an entrepreneur and to have access to the best infrastructure of innovation’’. Commentators suggest that these changes will lead to innovative business models as organisations increasingly leverage the opportunities provided by the cloud.

Cloud computing services today offer common business applications online that are accessed from a web browser, though more traditional computing models of the 1960s through the 1990s involved users accessing software resident on a computer owned by the company or (after the introduction of the personal computer) on the precise computer they were using. Hardware and software companies— whether they sold large mainframe computers, PCs, or any size in between— made their basic living with this model. Now a days, some companies continue to sell software licenses to companies for multiple users to access a software package, but that business model is challenged by the attractiveness of the cloud computing model.

The goal of cloud computing is the application of traditional supercomputing, or the power of high performance computing, that are typically used by military and research institutions to carry tens of trillions of calculations per second, in applications to discredit oriented consumers, such as financial portfolios, to provide personalized information for data storage or for the supply of large computer games, immersive.

Cloud computing has credited with increasing competitiveness by reducing costs, greater flexibility, resilience and optimum use of resources. To do this, cloud computing networks with large groups of servers on which to spread typical low-cost technology with specialized consumer PC connections to data processing tasks through them. This common infrastructure contains large reserves of the systems are interconnected. Often used virtualization methods to maximize the power of cloud computing.

HRM departments can play a positive role in this process, including bringing ICT units ‘‘in from the cold’’, so that they can be better integrated into business decision making processes. The development of cross-functional teams may advance this process. For many organisations this will require a change in the mind-set of senior management in relation to their perceptions of ICT departments. Technically-oriented process innovations linked to the introduction of cloud computing technologies will therefore need to be accompanied by organisational innovations (de Leede and Looise, 2005, p. 109), including dynamic HRM strategies that complement and support cloud-based business models. HRM departments will need to facilitate the required changes in ICT worker roles and skill sets. Some ICT staff, for example, will perform less hands-on technical work, as their job shifts towards a cloud supply chain management role.

Crowd sourcing is the practice of engaging a ‘crowd’ or a group to a common goal – often innovation, problem solving or creating something which was not possible by an individual to do alone or would have taken that individual long enough to complete. With our increasing connectivity, it is now convenient and simpler than ever for individuals to collectively contribute – either with ideas, time, expertise, or funds – to a project or cause. This means of collective contribution towards a work is termed as crowdsourcing mobilization.

For example, Wikipedia. Instead of creating an encyclopaedia on its own, gave writers and editors the ability to create a multitude of information on their own. As a result what we see today is the biggest encyclopaedia with the most extensive information in the world.

Crowdsourcing trace through all social and business interactions. It is changing the way people work, rent, research, brand and market. Governments are applying crowdsourcing to empower citizens and give greater voice to people. In science and health, crowdsourcing can democratize problem solving and accelerate innovation. With education, has the potential to revolutionize the system, like crowdfunding is challenging the traditional banking and investment processes.

Crowdsourcing has been a hot topic as it relates to the management and development of the workforce, from its impact on employee commitment to the recruitment and hiring. Instead of throwing caution to the wind and try new techniques of supply, however, it is important to use a method that is closely linked to business objectives and can be clearly measured. It should also be fully integrated into both formal and informal learning practices.

The biggest advantage of crowdsourcing is the ability to receive top quality results, as several people offer their best ideas, skills and support. It allows you to select the best out of a sea of ’Top Ticket’ instead of receiving the best entry from a single provider. Results can be delivered much faster than traditional methods because crowdsourcing is a way of working independently. A video can be completed within a month because several people can be put together on it, similarly a finished design or idea can be completed just in a week, and micro tasks are completed within minutes.

Clear information are essential in the crowdsourcing. You might be looking through thousands of possible ideas, which can be laborious, complicated or even if the information is not clearly understood. Some forms of crowdsourcing does not involve the specification work, some people are against it. Quality can be difficult to judge if proper expectations are not clearly established.

Big data is a term for any collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using traditional data processing applications.

Big Data has been one of the big recent corporate buzzwords. It has been estimated that 90% of the data that exists today has been generated within the past few years. Decreasing data architecture costs and increasing computational power have resulted in a world where data is continuously generated en masse from multiple sources and at dizzying speeds, overwhelming the capacity of large and small organizations alike. Heavy investment by companies to crunch through the numbers and make meaningful insights has resulted in rapid growth in the ability of organizations to analyse structured and unstructured data, as well as help to introduce Big Data’s applications to new areas such as human resources and to small businesses. Thus, the big attention that Big Data is receiving seems to be only getting bigger.

Throughout the last decade, technological changes have resulted in most of the tactical roles within the HR function to be centralized into dedicated applications or amalgamated into HR information systems. However, even with these changes, firms that have engaged in HR analytics have typically been slow to adopt data intensive applications and have instead opted for more qualitative (checklist based) approaches, such as reviewing hiring patterns or ensuring the right skill sets are found. Those that have embraced HR data analytics have typically focused on measuring the impact of HR strategies with variables such as cost per hire and human capital ROI.

Big Data will ultimately accelerate HR’s shift to greater data reliance by helping to provide new strategic and predictive capabilities that would otherwise not be available were it not for pairing the appropriate tools with HR subject matter expertise. With the right information systems, many HR administrative areas (such as personal data, benefits and employee scheduling) can be transformed into tools for making better business decisions.

In regards to hiring, for example, there may be a preconceived notion that a certain type of experience, degree or level of seniority is essential for success in a position. However, through an analysis of employee data across an organization, profiles can be created that more accurately reflect successful employees based on the factors that correlate with success. Not only can this directly assist in identifying suitable hires, but it can also help inform cost, skill and training expectations. (Personal data analysis can also be invaluable in informing and forecasting employee compensation and benefits management.)

As well, organizations that adopt HR systems where employees can set and track project times in scheduling applications will create a means to candidly evaluate what effect different scheduling and work systems have on outputs.

With more and more HR data intensive information systems coming into the market, predictive HR analytics can begin to take on a prominent role in the strategic decision making of organizations. This would include instances where analytics could help companies forecast headcount and the related costs associated with recruitment, on boarding and training.

As with every discipline, having access to data means having access to trends and patterns. With an excess of easy to use applications available as well as HRIS systems and Big Data entering the mainstream, HR specialists will have overcome a key hurdle in changing mountains of data into actionable findings that can inform decision making. Society can look forward to a generation of businesses where data analysis is seen as an essential skill set and data informed decision making is the norm within HR and in other areas.
