Types of (internal) constraints

A constraint can be defined as anything that inhibits the system from achieving its goal, there are a number of ways that a constrain can present itself. Although constrains may not be numbered in tens or hundreds. There is usually one or a few in a system. Constraints can be classified as internal or external.  An internal constraint is indicated when the market requires more from the system that the system can deliver. In this scenario, the organization should try to identify the constraint and follow the five focusing steps to eliminate the constraint. On the other hand, an external constraint is when a system can create more that market demands. To remedy this problem, it is essential that organization focus on methods to generate more demand for its products or services.

. Types of (internal) constraints

  • Equipment: It may be possible that they way equipment is used at the present time maybe limiting the capability of s system to produce goods that can be solved.
  • People: The scarcity of skilled people as well as the mentality may cause hindrances to the system.
  • Policy: An implicit or an absolute policy may thwart the system from making more.
