You may notice that prices do not tend to move in a straight line in any direction in a given chart, but rather it moves in a series of highs and lows. In technical analysis, it is the movement of the highs and lows that constitutes a trend. For instance, an uptrend is classified as a series of higher highs and higher lows, while a downtrend is one of lower lows and lower highs.<\/p>\n<p>There are 3 types of trends<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Uptrend Line:\u00a0<\/strong>An uptrend\u00a0line is formed by connecting two or more\u00a0low\u00a0points and has a positive\u00a0slope\u00a0and. Uptrend\u00a0lines act as support and indicate that net-demand is increasing even as the price rises. Downtrend lines\u00a0act as resistance, and indicate that net-supply (supply less demand) is increasing even as the price declines.\u00a0As long as prices remain below the downtrend\u00a0line, the downtrend\u00a0is solid and intact.
