You can create an app that is compatible with multiple versions of the\u00a0BlackBerry Device Software. When you package your\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0application project (and its dependent projects) for multiple versions of the\u00a0BlackBerry Device Software, the\u00a0BlackBerry Java Plug-in\u00a0for\u00a0Eclipse\u00a0creates the application files for distribution to\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0device users that run the versions of the\u00a0BlackBerry Device Software\u00a0that you include in your\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0application project.<\/p>\n

When you distribute your app by using the\u00a0BlackBerry Desktop Software\u00a0or the\u00a0BlackBerry Enterprise Server\u00a0push service, the\u00a0BlackBerry Java Plug-in\u00a0for\u00a0Eclipse\u00a0creates one master .alx file in theStandard\u00a0folder of your\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0application project.<\/p>\n

When you distribute your\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0device application over the Internet, the\u00a0BlackBerry Java Plug-in\u00a0forEclipse\u00a0creates the .jad and .cod files for each version of the\u00a0BlackBerry Device Software\u00a0in the\u00a0Webfolder of your\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0application project.<\/p>\n

You can use the auto-signature feature in the\u00a0BlackBerry Java Plug-in\u00a0for\u00a0Eclipse\u00a0to sign the .cod files automatically after you package a\u00a0BlackBerry\u00a0application project.<\/p>\n
