Specialist<br>\n<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meeting Follow-up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many meeting leaders struggle with team members when it comes to following up on action items. This slows down the progress of the overall team and the negative behavior may undermine the<br>\ncredibility of the meeting leader. This can spread throughout the rest of the team. To avoid this, one can do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">On a board visible to everyone, document all action items&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">If conducting a virtual meeting, one can use a virtual whiteboard to document actions <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">For each action item include the owner, task, and due date&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Repeat the task wording to the owner and ask if he\/she has questions or concerns&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">If a person has concerns about the action he or she needs to take, a manager needs to be allotted to address the concerns.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Request the task assignee to suggest a due date &nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">If concerned, follow up with the action item owner a few days prior to the due date to check on&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">progress&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Suggest a ground rule that if an action item owner cannot complete an action item on time,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">he\/she is expected to work with another team member to get it resolved by the due date&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Establish an efficient action item management database\/system<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">If the action item owner arrives unprepared, ask them to still provide a read out to the team&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(do not let them just privately provide you an excuse before the meeting)&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Verbally review all action items at the end of the meeting&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Include all action items in the meeting notes and ensure they are also pasted into the body of&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">the meeting notes email.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FfAsH0MKIVE?rel=0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br>\n<span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"apply\">\n<h3>Apply for Wealth Manager Certification Now!!<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vskills.in\/certification\/Certified-Wealth-Manager\">http:\/\/www.vskills.in\/certification\/Certified-Wealth-Manager<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vskills.in\/certification\/tutorial\/business-communication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Go back to Tutorial<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Certify and Increase Opportunity.
