Unlike hard K-means, which assigns each data point to a single cluster, soft K-means assigns each data point to all clusters with a membership value between 0 and 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Soft K-Means Works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The soft K-means algorithm follows these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Initialization:<\/strong> Randomly select K initial centroids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Assignment:<\/strong> Calculate the membership values for each data point to each cluster based on their distance and the current centroids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Update:<\/strong> Recalculate the centroids as the weighted average of all data points, where the weights are the membership values.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Repeat:<\/strong> Iterate steps 2 and 3 until convergence or a maximum number of iterations is reached.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Membership Values<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The membership value of a data point to a cluster represents the degree of belongingness of that data point to the cluster.
