PHP Evolution

PHP Evolution

PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) is a popular open-source scripting language used for web development. It was first created in 1994 by Rasmus Lerdorf and has undergone significant evolution since then. The language has seen several major updates, with each new version bringing in new features and improvements.

One of the most significant changes in PHP evolution was the release of PHP 7 in 2015, which brought in significant performance improvements and introduced new features like scalar type hinting and anonymous classes. PHP 8, which was released in 2020, further improved performance and introduced features like named arguments, attributes, and JIT (Just-in-Time) compilation. The evolution of PHP has made it a more powerful and versatile language, making it an excellent choice for web development.
