Let’s learn more about List of Commodity Exchanges in India. In India, commodity trading started much before it started in many other countries. However, years of foreign rule, droughts and periods of scarcity and Government policies caused the commodity trading in India to diminish. Commodity trading was, however, restarted in India recently. India has recently grown in the commodity market. It contributing to the GDP of the country in a high number. The commodity market in India, influence the market of other industries in the market.  In 2016, apart from numerous regional exchanges, India had Six national commodity exchanges namely, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX), National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE), ACE Derivatives Exchange (ACE) and Universal Commodity. These national commodity exchanges plays an vital role in contributing to the national income of the country. 

These are the India’s  four oldest national commodity exchanges along with numerous regional exchanges. They have played a important role in deciding the economy of the country.

The regulatory body is Forward Markets Commission (FMC) which was set up in 1953.
