\"Makeover<\/a><\/p>\n

The Reserve Bank of India has recently, i.e. last week come up with another way of fighting the battle against the fake currency notes in India. This time the step that RBI has taken is the makeover of\u00a0\u20b9100 currency note. It has issued the banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi series with a new numbering pattern. The numeric codes on the two diagonal corners of the banknote will now be printed in an ascending size, from left to right, whereas the alphanumeric pattern\/code, that is before the numeric code will be printed in a constant size.<\/p>\n

Printing the numerals in an ascending order will make it easy for the public to distinguish between an original bank note, and a fake one. This is because it is a visual difference that is visible easily to unaided eye. The RBI, in consultation with GOI (Government of India) has decided to put in some more security features in the banknotes in the future so that counterfeiting them would be difficult, and identifying the original ones will be easier for the public.<\/p>\n

The designing of the new banknotes is similar to the old notes in all respects, except the ascending size feature of the numeric code. The currency notes will continue to have a \u2018\u20b9\u2019 symbol before the amount guaranteed by the note, and an inset \u2018R\u2019 where the numeric code is written. Also the notes will continue to have a signature of the Governor, RBI, Mr. Raghuram Rajan. Similar changes will be introduced in notes of other denominations also in a phased manner in the future.<\/p>\n
