<p>To evaluate XML in this context is a little bit unfair, as XML has been<br />
designed to describe information exchange between information technology<br />
systems in general. It uses established infrastructures and defines<br />
the syntax unambiguously. It also provides the frame for higher levels<br />
(as RDFS, OWL &#8211; S, and also HLA and BOM and some extensions on<br />
DIS utilize XML).<br />
RDFS adds the level of semantics to XML but stays on the same level<br />
as DIS: unambiguous definition of objects to be exchanged (or shared)<br />
between applications. To a certain degree, RDFS allows to capture the<br />
context as well, but not enough to fully support the pragmatic level.<br />
OWL &#8211; S explicitly models IOPE and, by doing so, unambiguously<br />
defines syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. If the effects were unambiguously<br />
mapped to inputs of other services to model state changes<br />
as well, it would also support dynamics, but OWL &#8211; S misses the<br />
common conceptual representations that are used in BOM to reach<br />
this level.<br />
This evaluation shows the possible descriptive and prescriptive use of the<br />
LCIM, which has been introduced and expanded in  and<br />
. What is currently still lacking is a set of metrics for each level that<br />
can be used to evaluate if a system supports this level or not. Currently, this<br />
evaluation is conducted by subject matter expertise using their personal judgment,</p>
<p>which leaves too much room for interpretation and discussion. Current<br />
discussions show, for example, that some M &amp; S experts explain the opinion<br />
that BOMs already support the conceptual level, while others state that the<br />
state charts used in BOM are not even sufficient to support the dynamic level.<br />
A similar discussion is possible for the expressiveness of OWL &#8211; S. Additional<br />
research and agreements are necessary.</p>

<p>Using the LCIM defined earlier in different contributions becomes possible. The following  shows the six<br />
levels of interpretation  (technical,<br />
and conceptual) and the evaluated standardization efforts (DIS, HLA, BOM,<br />
XML, RDFS, OWL &#8211; S) to show the degree of support of<br />
interpretation, and ability to compose as defined in the LCIM can be provided.<br />
The dark gray fields indicate that this level of interpretation is well covered<br />
by the respective approach. The light gray fields indicate that the standard<br />
comprises means to cope with challenges of this level, but not sufficiently to<br />
allow for unambiguous solution.<br />
The justifications for the shades shown  are as follows:<br />
(1) DIS uses established infrastructures like Ethernet or Token Rings and<br />
established Web protocols to ensure the technical connectivity. The<br />
definition of PDUs ensure unambiguous syntax and semantic. However,<br />
which PDUs can be sent to whom in which context (pragmatic) and<br />
how the system reacts (dynamics) are not part of<br />
there is room to capture agreements. The conceptual assumptions and<br />
constraints, however, are not covered.<br />
(2) HLA has means to support all levels of interpretation, but only the<br />
lower levels are standardized. As DIS, the technical level is supported<br />
by using established protocols. The HLA OMT unambiguously defines CURRENT interpretation STANDARD SOLUTIONS<br />
(3)</p>
<p>the syntax. However, as no common data model is given (on purpose,<br />
in order to be able to support all M &amp; S application domains and<br />
areas), every level from the semantic level must be agreed to and<br />
documented in the artifacts provided by the HLA. Unfortunately, these<br />
artifacts are not mandatory, so that the upper layers are not supported<br />
unambiguously.<br />
BOM evaluated the lessons learned from DIS and HLA and introduced<br />
an extension of necessary artifacts in the form of the BOM template<br />
that requires to identify the conceptual entities and events (semantics),<br />
resulting state changes in the entities (dynamic), and the patterns of<br />
interplay (pragmatic) for the higher levels of interpretation. The<br />
mapping connects these to the syntactically consistent representations<br />
in the services or components represented by the BOM. However, the<br />
capturing of assumptions and constraints is limited to the documentation<br />
what is modeled, which is not sufficient to support the conceptual<br />
level of the LCIM.</p>

<p>If we talk of queuing system of operating system you might have given some thought to it some time but queuing system follows following phases&#8211;</p>
<p>• First-in, First-out (FIFO): Service is provided on the first come, first served basis.<br />
• Random: Arrivals of customers is completely random but at a certain arrival rate.<br />
• Steady state: The queuing system is at a steady state condition.</p>
<p>The above conditions are very ideal conditions for any queuing system and assumptions are made to model the situation mathematically.</p>
<p>First condition only means irrespective of customer, one who comes first is attended first and no priority is given to anyone.</p>
<p>Second conditions says that arrival of a customer is random and is expected anytime after the elapse of first mean time of interval (τ say). In a given interval of time (called mean time of arrival τ, between two customers) only one customer is expected to come. This is equivalent to saying that the number of arrivals per unit time is a random variable with a Poisson’s distribution.</p>
<p>This distribution is used when chances of occurrence of an event out of a large sample is small.</p>

<p>In this section, we summarize the basic steps that should be considered in doing a simulation study.</p>
<p>What are the various steps of testing?</p>
<p>The life cycle does not have to be interpreted as strictly sequential; it is iterative by<br />
nature, and sometimes transitions in opposite directions can appear. Likewise, some of the steps can<br />
be skipped, according to the complexity of the application. It is highly recommended to use a spiral<br />
cycle with incremental development for steps 2–8, which can cause a revision to previous phases. Each<br />
phase in the spiral cycle should end with a working prototype including more functionality than the<br />
previous cycle:<br />
1. Problem formulation: the simulation process begins with a practical problem that requires<br />
solving or understanding. It might be the case of a cargo company trying to develop a<br />
new strategy for truck dispatching or an astronomer trying to understand how a nebula is<br />
formed. At this stage, we must understand the behavior of the system of interest (which<br />
can be a natural or artificial system, existing or not), organizing the system’s operation as<br />
objects and activities within the experimental framework of interest. Then we need to ana-<br />
lyze different alternatives of solutions by investigating other previously existing results for<br />
similar problems. The most acceptable solution should be chosen (omitting this stage could<br />
cause the selection of an expensive. We also must identify the input/<br />
output variables and classify them into decision variables (controllable) or parameters<br />
(noncontrollable). If the problem involves performance analysis, this is the point at which<br />
we can also define performance metrics (based on the output variables) and an objective<br />
function (i.e., a combination of some of the metrics). At this stage, we can also do risk<br />
analysis and whether to follow or discard the project.<br />
2. The conceptual model must be defined. This step consists of building a high-level descrip-<br />
tion of the structure and behavior of the system and identifying all the objects with their<br />
attributes and interfaces. We also must define what the state variables are, how they are<br />
related, and which ones are important for the study. In this step, key aspects of the require-<br />
ments are expressed (if possible, using a formalism, which introduces a higher degree of<br />
precision). During the definition of the conceptual model, we need to reveal features that<br />
are of critical significance (e.g., possibility of instability, deadlock, or starvation). We must<br />
also document nonfunctional information—for instance, possible future changes, non-<br />
intuitive (or nonformal) behavior, and the relation with the environment.<br />
3. In the collection and analysis of input/output data phase, we must study the system to<br />
obtain input/output data. To do so, we must observe and collect the attributes chosen in<br />
the previous phase. When the system entities are studied, we try to associate them with a<br />
timing value. Another important issue during this phase is the selection of a sample size<br />
that is statistically valid and a data format that can be processed with a computer. Finally,<br />
we must decide which attributes are stochastic and which are deterministic. In some cases,<br />
there are no data sources to collect (for instance, for nonexisting systems). In those cases,<br />
we need to try to obtain data sets from similar systems (if available). Another option is to<br />
use a stochastic approach to provide the data needed through random number generation.<br />
4. In the modeling phase, we must build a detailed representation of the system based on<br />
the conceptual model and the I/O data collected. The model is built by defining objects,<br />
attributes, and methods using a chosen paradigm</p>

<p>Human beings are resourceful and curious. The need to explore, analyze our surroundings, and solve problems is in our nature (even from a very young age). There are many different reasons why we do these things, including improvement of our quality of life (e.g., by creating devices to reduce efforts or improve our safety), thirst for knowledge (e.g., in learning how plants grow), or even just for fun do simulation.<br />
The technique humans (and maybe change) their environment is experimentation (for instance, if we want to learn how much clay and water must be mixed to do pottery, we conduct different trials until the desired consistency is obtained). Experimentation was the only way humans had to learn about their environment for principal methods employed in problem solving (and a crucial part of child development).</p>
<p>&nbsp;<br />
There are two objects under consideration: the entity under study and the experimental frame (EF), which defines the conditions for experimentation. The EF defines not only how we experiment on the entity but also how we obtain the experimental results. In our pottery example, the entity is the mix of water and clay (that we can mold and then solidify in an oven), and the EF is the set of experiments done.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Each experiment would be a different trial to mix clay and water (including<br />
different percentages of each material, include the consistency and texture expected and obtained for each different clay mix.<br />
<strong>EXAMPLE 1.1</strong><br />
Let us suppose that we want to study the best possible allocation of desks . We need to decide where to put the desks and the heating/air conditioning sources. An experimentation-based solution would take different groups of students in different positions and would use a sensor (i.e., a thermometer) to measure the temperature in different areas in the classroom.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In this example, the entity is a classroom and its temperature under different desk configurations. The EF is defined by the multiple student configurations (experiments) and the kinds of results expected at the end of each experiment (in this case, temperature of a room between –20 and +45°C). The results are provided by the thermometers used to measure the temperature. As we can see, the EF allows us to consider what the objectives of the experiment are (measure temperature in the room;  the number of students or their weight is not of interest) and any assumptions we have about the experiment (do we use a digital thermometer or an analog one? One or many? Are we interested in fractions of a degree?).</p>

<p>The application you now should build needs to provide the user to toggle the mode of his or her phone’s ringer with a simple pressing of button.</p>
<p>&nbsp;<br />
Imagine that you’re at work and you’re about to go to a meeting. You can turn your phone volume down, all the way to silence, and then attend the meeting. You’d never be “that guy” whose phone rings , would you?<br />
The problem is that you like your You never keep it on the loudest setting, only the 2 setting. When you leave your meeting, you remember to turn your phone ringer volume back up, but you always have to go all the way to the max volume, and then down one setting, just to make sure that you have the correct setting. While this isn’t a life-changing event, it’s kind of a nuisance having to do this each time you silence your phone’s. isn&#8217;t it the future.??<br />
It would be great if you had an application that would allow you to touch a button to turn the ringer off, and then, when you leave the meeting, you could touch the button again and the ringer would return to the last state that it was in. You’d never have to readjust your ringer again. That’s the application you’re about to build.</p>

<p>Well, the real question should be “Why not?” Do you want your app to be available to millions of users worldwide? Do you want to publish apps as soon as you’re done writing and testing them? Do you like developing on open platforms? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I think you have your answer, but in case you’re still undecided, keep reading, and I’ll explain what I mean.</p>
<p>As a developer, you have an opportunity to develop apps for a fairly new market that is booming on a daily basis. Android is currently set to outpace many other carriers in market share in the industry in coming months. With so many users, it’s never been easier to write an application that can be downloaded and used by real people! The Android Market puts your app right into your users’ hands easily! Users don’t have to go searching the Internet to find an app to install. They just simply go to the Android Market that is pre-installed on their device, and they have access to all your apps. Because the Android Market comes pre-installed on most Android devices (I discuss a few exceptions later), users typically search the Android Market for all of their app needs. It’s not hard to see an app’s number of downloads soar in just a few days.</p>

Although writing Android applications is fairly easy, programming in itself can be a difficult task to conquer.</p>
<p>Although the majority of Android is Java, small parts of the framework aren’t. Android also encompasses the XML language as well as basic Apache Ant scripting for build processes. If you already know Java and XML, congratulations — you’re ahead of the curve!<br />
<strong>Java: Your Android programming language</strong></p>
<p>Android applications are written in Java — not the full-blown Java that J2EE developers are used to, but a subset of Java that is sometimes known as the Dalvik virtual machine. This smaller subset of Java excludes classes that don’t make sense for mobile devices.<br />
It may be a good idea to keep a Java reference book on hand, but in any case, you can always search on net if you do not get anything .As Java is nothing new, you can find plenty of examples on the Web that demonstrate how to do just about anything.<br />
In Java source code, not all libraries are included. Verify that the package you need are available to you. If it’s not, an alternative is probably bundled with Android that can work for your needs.</p>
