Strategic choice theory (SCT)

The Strategic choice theory (SCT) focuses on the role that leaders and senior management plays in influencing the organization by making choices in a dynamic political process. Prior to this theory, it was commonly believed that organizations were designed along operational requirements based on the external environment. On the other hand, Strategic choice theory calls attention to the body of individuals and groups within the organizations to make decisions, sometimes serving their own ends that dynamically influenced the development of those organizations. These strategic choices formed part of an organizational learning process that adapted to the external environment as well as the internal political situation.
