Manufacturing Critical-path Time (MCT)
ORM’s strong emphasis on lead time reduction warrants the need for complete definition of lead time. In order to achieve the same, QRM initiated Manufacturing Critical-path Time (MCT). It is based on the standard critical path method and can be defined as the typical amount of calendar time from when a customer creates an order, until the first piece of that order is delivered to the customer.
A tool created to calculate waste and to draw attention to areas for improvement, MCT gives an estimate of the time it takes to fulfill an order, quantifying the longest critical-path duration of order-fulfillment activities.
